Most HelpfulI've had my Greendot card for over a year, and its worked out fine for what I need. The other day, I went to Office Depot to make a purchase of around $30. The cashier rang me up, and I slid my card in, hit debit, and entered my pin. Declined. But I knew I had a couple hundred dollars on the card. So I tried again. Still Declined. I went home emptyhanded and checked on line. I saw two postings for Office Depot for the same roughly $30 amount listed as "pending" but not declined. I also saw that I had plenty of money to cover the amount, and couldn't understand why it had been declined....
read full review »I got this card as a graduation present from a family member. I was only 17 when I recieved it, when I tried to activate it, It said I needed a parent to call the number. I was going to be 18 in about 2 weeks so I decided to just try again when I turned 18. I did try after my 18th birthday, but then online they could not verify it was me so I then called the number given, it took me forever to get somebody to talk to and they send I needed to send in a electricity bill a phone bill and a copy of my social security card. I told them I was only 18 and that my parents paid the bills and I didn't not...

I've had my Green Dot MasterCard for about two years now & I wouldn't know what to do without it. You can put as much money as you need or want to on it & feel secure in knowing that where ever you use it, you can do so safely. It's accepted every where that MasterCard is accepted.
For only $4.95 a month for maintenance, it's a great card to have. Add money anytime you need to, check your balance any time. Get weekly emails with your balance updates...
read full review »I prefer the prepay ability of the green dot credit card, becouse, yes you have a charge of 4.95 a month and a charge of 4.95 for every amount you put on the card. But if you only place large amounts onto your card then 4.95 is not much. And if you have direct deposit you don't get charged anything.
I used to deal with bank credit cards and you were always getting hit with charges from interest to accidental overcharging.
With the green dart there is no overcharging. How can you overcharge when there is no money left on the card. And on the outside chance you do over charge you simply pay...
I wanted to get a credit card so I could buy a bunch of stuff off the internet and not worry about identity theft. When I saw that CVS had a sale on Green Dot Prepaid MasterCard's I jumped for the chance. I guessed to put money on the card it would only cost $4.95. Boy was I wrong. It costs $9.95 just to activate. After putting money on my card I expected to go home with it. Nope wrong again. I had to go home, and get on the phone to activate it. On the phone I could barely understand the Green Dot lady because of her accent. It took 8 days to arrive. So far I'm pleased with it, but wouldn't...
read full review »I wouldnt recommend Greendot to my worse enemy. I'd advise any and everyone to NEVER use it and if you do, get your money out now while you can. I started using Greendot when it first came out. Didnt use it often, just to fastly receive money from relatives in other locations. Thought it was easier and cheaper than the money transfer services. Well. I guess Greendot got greedy and desperate because 2 of my accounts and accounts from a couple of my friends, whom Id recommend to GD, got frozen. They gave nonsense reasons for taking our money. Claiming mothers maiden names didnt match, social security#...
read full review »We have used Green Dot for years, we have had not problems, except that for a long time we were able to put $900.00 on the card, then all of a sudden we could only put $500.00, we were upset, we found out that we had to upgrade to the Green Dot Supreme, well we did, and was informed that we could put $2,500.00 on the card. Well, it never happened that way. We have only been able to put no more than $800.00 on the card. The card always never lets us go over our limit that we put on the card. Until now. We paid our bills, then all of a sudden it showed that we had $374.00, our bills showed posted,...
