Great Value Amaretto Non Dairy Coffee Creamer —

Yesterday I had to fill a prescription at Walmart so while I was waiting I browsed the store to kill the time. I came across Great Value Amaretto Non Dairy Coffee Creamer, I had just bought the Kroger brand the other day so I got one of these to compare it with. I did notice right off the bat that it was 30 cents cheaper than Kroger's version so it would be a good comparison.

Great Value Amaretto Coffee Creamer

Just like the Kroger brand this has a wonderful Amaretto flavor to it but thats were the similarities stop. This Great Value version says to use 3 teaspoons per serving which tells me it is a bit more concentrated that the Kroger brand. So to be totally fair I used the same amount I did with the other and that was 2 teaspoons in my cup.

Turns out this was a bit stronger in flavor as compared to the Kroger brand in the same size cup and within just about 10 minutes between the 2 cups of coffee so it wasn't that the coffee got any stronger in that 10 minutes. I then got a third cup of coffee and used 1/2 the serving or 1 1/2 teaspoons to make it a more exact comparison. Now the flavors were as close as you can get to being exactly the same. So now the only thing left is to compare the nutritional facts between the two brands.

Nutritional Facts

This is for 3 teaspoons per serving of the Great Value Brand:

Calories 50, Total Fat 2.5g(NO TRANS FAT), Saturated Fat 1.5g, Cholesterol 0, Sodium 10mg, Potassium 50mg, Sugar 6g, Carbohydrates 8g

Differences between Kroger and Great Value:

Kroger has 10 more calories
Kroger has 1g more sugar
Kroger costs $2.45 for 8 ounces, while Great Value is $2.15 for 8 ounces
Kroger is 4 teaspoons per serving and Great Value is 3 teaspoons per serving

Bottom Line

Both the Kroger and Great value brands have great taste, but the Great Value Brand is a bit stronger which means you use less to get the same great taste.Kroger used as they recommend has 19 servings per 8oz container, while Great Value has 21 servings per 8 oz. container. So for 30 cents less you get 2 more servings per container with Great Value. As I use it I get 42 servings as opposed to 38 because I cut their serving size in half.

See even in coffee creamers the Redneck does it again! I found two great Amaretto coffee creamers and I found a great deal at the same time. Now they are very close in both price and nutritional value so if one store is out I can get it at the other and still have my Amaretto Fix!
