Great Valentines Getaways —

Valentines Day is a Thursday this year, so why not surprise your sweetheart with a long-weekend romantic getaway. Just the two of you. Someplace REALLY special. A romantic hotel. A romantic Valentines Day dinner. And plenty of opportunities for love to flourish like it could nowhere else. Here's my list of top romantic destinations to help you create your own memories.

------------------------------------------------------------------

San Juan, Puerto Rico
San Juan oozes romance throughout its colonial-era Old San Juan neighborhood. Stroll along cobblestone streets, neck like young teens again in one of the fabulous plazas, and walk along the ramparts of El Morro --- the imposing 16th century fortress. The next day, walk the sunny beaches, hand-in-hand.
Hotel Recommendation: El Convento
Dinner Recommendation: Augusto's Cuisine

Zihuatanejo, Mexico
Lie in the shade of gently waving palms along a sandy Pacific coast beach as white-gloved waiters bring you cool margaritas and grilled fish so fresh it could only have been caught within the hour. Relax to the softly strumming guitars of a wandering mariachi. Splurge on a luxury suite where soft, gentle, warm sea breezes softly move the sheer white curtains.
Hotel Recommendation: La Casa Que Canta
Dinner Recommendation: Kau-Kan

San Antonio, Texas
Stroll hand-in-hand along San Antonio's famous Riverwalk, ducking into shops at your whim, or enjoying a drink in one of the city's cozy riverside cafes. Stay in a luxury hotel on the Riverwalk, splurge on a spa treatment, and in the morning, head over to the Market Square for a zesty Mexican breakfast at the fun and funky La Tierra.
Hotel Recommendation: Valencia
Dinner Recommendation: Fig Tree

Quebec, Canada
If you like the idea of Paris, but want something involving a tad less jet lag, think Quebec. The weather just might be on the frosty side come Valentines Day, but that can work to your favor. Let the chilly weather keep you inside one of Canada's most richly characterful small boutique hotels: the Auberge Saint-Antoine. Bask in the warmth of a roaring fire in on the common areas, or just snuggle up under those thick duvets in your cozy, warm room (a bottle of champagne couldn't hurt the experience).
Hotel Recommendation: Auberge Saint-Antoine
Dinner Recommendation: Le Saint Amour

New Orleans, Louisiana
Live jazz bands, zesty cajun cuisine, and a city with more history and personality than just about any place in America. Grab a tall, cold Hurricane and stroll along Bourbon Street. Catch a horse-drawn carriage in Jackson Square. Have coffee in the morning at the world-famous Cafe Du Monde.
Hotel Recommendation: Soniat House
Dinner Recommendation: Arnaud's, Broussard's, Brennan's, K-Paul's, Galatoire

Very nice - I have twins one born on the 13th and the other on the 14th so that pretty much takes over Valentines Day LOL
