Great Smoky Mountains National Park —
The Great Smoky Mountains and the towns around are so awesome! This is the first year since my husband and I were married 9 years ago that we won't be going to the mountains. When we first married, he had a son and I had 3 children still at home. My husband suggested that we take the children to the mountains for a weekend. They were mesmerized by the beauty and carefree atmosphere which surrounded us. Since a weekend is not enough time to take in all that there is we all decided to make a trip to the mountains for family vacation. A glorious week of the Smoky Mountains, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, Cades Cove, Dollywood, camping, the list is endless. It became a tradition for Christmas that the first weekend in December we took the kids to the shops in Gatlinburg, Cherokee, NC and other surrounding areas for their christmas shopping trip. They always found such interesting items for each other in the little shops around the Smoky Mountain area. Everyone would be so excited by Christmas Day to see what everyone had picked out for the other for Christmas. These gifts reminded us year round of our wonderful trips to the mountains. It doesn't seem like you ever run out of activities, some of which cost nothing, there is always something new to check out. Even the same sites have new changes which are so spectacular.
