Great Neck produces a great product, and this wrench is no exception to their track record with me. This particular wrench in my tool box is the Great Neck 6 Inch Adjustable Wrench AW6C. I picked it up for $7.94 at the local store here, and it was put to use right after the purchase. It was bought of course, to be put to use on some bolts that needed tightened in my apartment when I moved in. It was actually between the Great Neck products and a couple of others that didn't look quite as dependable so I went with this one.

The 6 Inch Great Neck is a really sturdy wrench, and I could tell it was one that was going to hold up for a lot of use in my house. I am not the most tool-savvy of people, so I won't say that it gets used all the time, but I have used it in a bunch of instances where I normally wouldn't have. It's a silvery color built of chrome alloy steel and produced overseas in China. This is the 6 inch version of the wrench which is just one of the many sizes that Great Neck produces.

The wrench itself has a nice "peg" hole on the bottom end so that you can hang it up when not in use, but to be honest I haven't ever used that. The wrench is instead in an old silverware holder where I keep all of my tools. At the head of the wrench is a rolling gear that can be adjusted by using one finger to slide the rollers down. By doing that you can either enlarge the "wrenching" area to a maximum of 6 inches, or shrink it up to a size of less than 6, all the way to the wrench fingers clamping shut. So, anything that measure 6 inches or less in diameter will work perfectly with this Great Neck.

When put into use, the wrench can have the head enlarged to be slightly bigger that the nut or pipe, and the closed on to it using the adjuster. This makes the wrench twice as easy, because by doing it in that fashion the wrench gets a better grip before you even start using it. Once it is fastened, you can pull on it to turn off the nut, and because it is built so sturdy it doesn't feel like you are putting too much effort into pulling down on it. Also, it works very easily on things like garbage disposal pipes, on stuck heater valves, and just about anything else that could need a wrench in my apartment.

The Great Neck line of products are a tough brand that will last the test of time if you take care of them. Mine has been around for 3 to 4 years now, and the wear on it is barely noticeable. It stands up to being wiped down with water, but I would suggest drying it off each time that you need to wash off the wrench. The adjuster works really well, and I have never had it get stuck when I was working with the wrench. The Great Neck 6 Inch Adjustable Wrench is definitely a great product that works well no matter what the job is that you put it to the test with. I highly recommend the 6 inch which I own, and I go as far as saying that all of their wrenches are probably worth picking up if they are built as well as this one.
