Grease Review

I am actually surprised there are not more reviews for Grease here. Grease came out when I was about 12 or 13 years old.  At that age I thought it was one of the best movies that I had ever seen.  I am sure most women my age remember playing the album and singing pretending they were Sandra Dee singing to Danny, or what ever boy they happened to like at that time.  To this day I could sing every song on that album and I know every word.

Grease was a movie released in the 70 but was based in the 50's.  Olivia Newton John played the virginal sweeet Sandra Dee.  John Travolta played Danny the tough leader of a greaser gang called the T-Birds.  Over the Summer vacation before their senior year of High School Danny and Sandra met at the beach and fell in love.  When the Summer was over Danny an Sandra Dee parted ways.  Sandra was suppossed to go back home to Austrailia and the two of them thought they would never see each other again.

Both of them are shocked when they run in to each other at their School, Ridel High.  Sandra ended up not going back to Australia and was going to finish out her schooling at Ridel.  You would think this would be a happy reunion, but Danny has to maintain his tough guy dimenor and therefore does not seem to be the same guy that Sandra spent the Summer with. 

The rest of the movie finds Sandra and Danny in conflict with who they want to be, and what the other wants them to be while Danny tries to remain cool with his friends. Danny is cool and tough, and Sandra is way too sweet. They belong in two different worlds, but they long to be together. They care about each other but they are both too proud accept each other.  Can two people who are so different find their way to lasting love together.  To find out watch Grease.

There are other story lines as well as we learn more about Danny's fellow gang members, and friends the T-Birds, and about a gang of girls called the Pink Lady's a group that Sandra has managed to make a friend from. 

The movie is full of singing and dancing as music is added in to the plot line.  The music is both original and reminiscent of the 50's.  The clothing worn in the movie is from the 50's. 

Grease is a wonderful love story, and a wonderful, fun, and memorable musical.  I still enjoiy the movie to this day.  It brings back memories of my youth and it is just enjoyable to watch and sing along with.
