Grayline was great in helping us to see the sights from a distance. NYC can be overwhelming and this gave us a way to see what all the city had to offer. We bought a three day pass that included all the touristy stuff like the Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building etc. In hindsite I would reccommend taking the whole tour - Uptown, Down Town and the night tour all on one day. Make note of what it is you really want to experience and then take the Subway back to your desired location the next day. - The hopper idea was good but traveling on a tour bus eats a lot of free time. - I love the subway - it's fast and cheap!
Most of the tour guides were friendly and knowledgeable. Remember to tip them!
One bus had a broken AC - Don't get on that one in July.
Overall this is great for first timers - for a day and then it's a waste of money.
