    breathtaking scenery, a visual record of geological history, many forms of wildlife

You don't wanna miss this... the Grand Canyon has got to be the one destination that every red-blooded American should see at least twice in their lifetime:  once as a kid, then once again with your own kids... the scenery is breathtaking, take all the guided tour opportunities available, and take more water than you think you'll need... book some cheap motels along the way and buy your refrigerator magnets to commemorate the stops along the trip at the WalMart closest to the Grand Canyon (depending on which direction you drove in from).  WalMart's always the least expensive for the souvenir/postcard stuff and most of the time they're in the checkout areas near the front of the store...
