I don't go to the movies very often (usually wait for the DVD to come out) but since I've always been a Clint Eastwood fan I made an exception and saw Gran Torino in the theater. I was definitely not disappointed. The story is so involving that the time just flew by. Even my husband, who usually has a very short attention span, was completely into the movie. The characters are well defined, human and realistic and the storyline is logical and easy to follow. I think Eastwood is at his best in this movie. He gives a great performance that is multi-dimensional.
What I especially liked about the movie was the mix of humor, drama and great storytelling. I found myself involved in the lives of all the main characters. I even learned some things about the Hmong people. I think this is a great movie for anyone age 13 and up. It could also be useful as a discussion topic for parents and teens However, due to rough language, some violence and a lot of racial slurs, it would not be appropriate for younger children.
I liked this movie so much, I will be buying the DVD to add to my collection. This is definitely one I'll want to watch more than once.
