Love the Graco Ultraclear Monitor, just one major flaw

4

I bought this monitor when my original one died. My child was already a toddler, so I didn't really need to keep a close ear on him at night, but I still wanted to have a monitor for during naps when I was in other parts of the house. This one works great! Very little static. Nice, simple design, and decent features. Here's my one issue with this monitor: you cannot turn the volume all the way to mute and just look at the light indicators. This is VERY annoying when you have a baby who you're trying to train to sleep through the night. I had to get a different monitor when I had my newest baby because even on the lowest volume I could still hear every little stirring and grunt and therefore couldn't sleep. I am bummed that I can't use this monitor with my new baby because if you don't mind hearing every little thing it works wonderfully!

Graco Monitor Works Pretty Great

4

My family has used the Graco Baby Monitor for three years. The monitor is very easy to set up and works quite nicely. The monitor and two accompanying receivers can run on batteries or be plugged into an outlet, and we have found that it is nice to have both options. Occassionally, we have run into the problem of picking up someone elses baby monitor, but have found that changing to the other available channel has solved the problem. We often take this monitor with us when we travel, and have found that putting all of the pieces into a gallon sized zip-top bag makes it easy to throw into a suitcase. The receivers for the monitor are small, light-weight, and easy to carry around. The nightlight feature on the monitor is has been quite handy, and is easy to turn on and off. Overall, this is a very affordable, easy-to-use, and reliable monitor. It doesn't have all of the extra features that you can find on other higher-priced monitors, but it is definitely worth its price. I would buy it again, and I would buy it for friends or family members as a new-baby gift.

works OK

When searching for a baby monitor it is so difficult to know if you are getting a "good one" or not.  Some of them work perfectly and others sound like they will and then they work terribly.  In the past I had an older Graco monitor that I loved because it did not pick up static or other people's conversations.  I thought that I would purchase a newer version when my next baby came that would be the latest and greatest. The Ultra Clear wasn't too expensive and it was made by a brand I trust so I thought I would give it a try.  I wasn't very happy with the sound quality.  It tended to be staticy and to pick up frequencies around it like from the computer for instance.  It would make a lot of outside noises which made it not so easy to hear what you wanted to hear- your baby!  So, I had to be careful where I placed it next to so that it didn't pick up frequencies.  I didn't find it to pick up other homes' conversations but my simpler older Graco I liked SO much better.  Just be aware of what you're buying if you purchase this monitor.

Graco Ultraclear has worked for us for 2.5 yrs now

4

Well I will certainly say the Graco Ultraclear is not the fanciest model on the market, and it does have its flaws, but it has worked fine for us for almost three years now, so I can't complain too much. It definitely does make white noise, but that doesn't bother us, and it in no way affects our ability to hear our daughter through it. It also gets static at times, especially when it is around a lot of other electronics, and that can be annoying, but for the price it's not that bad. We are expecting a new baby soon and I will probably get a different model of monitor this time around, but I'm not mad at the Graco, and it has been fine and we will continue to use it in our daughter's room. So I would say that if you don't have a ton of money to spend and you aren't worried about fancy gadgets and video monitors and such, then this Graco will work just fine for your needs. The money you save could be used on something else useful.

Ultra Clear Baby Monitor does not live up to its name.

We have a spread-out house.  Because of the layout, I cannot hear the kids without a monitor. As my oldest started sleeping well, it became a pain to take the receiver with us all over the house with our old monitor.  We decided to look for an affordable monitor with two receivers.  We really wanted the light indicator as well as sound.  The Graco Ultra Clear seemed to fit the bill. Well, we certainly were not thrilled.  The first thing we noticed was how much static we got.  We had to turn the volume up quite high to hear any baby sounds.  We tested it first with our speaking voices in the room.  When the volume was up loud enough to hear, there was so much static that it was still hard to hear the baby.  It was equally hard to hear each other talk or to hear the tv when the monitor was on. The second thing (and biggest problem) is that when we are in our family room, we are too far away to get ANY reception.  I don't know if the problem is because the family room is in the new part of the house and there is a wall full of insulation in the way or what.  We currently have the Graco monitor set up with the receiver in our bedroom and the spare receiver in our guest room for when grandma and pap visit (and let us sleep in). We ALSO have the OLD monitor set up with the receiver in our living room. The Graco was certainly a disappointment.

Didn't like at all

I was given the Graco Ultra Clear II Baby Monitor as a shower present for my first daughter.  I had registered for it because I didn't want anyone to spend too much money on me and it seemed like a medium-of-the-line monitor.  I ended up selling it on craigslist and bought a different one. My biggest problem with the Graco Ultra Clear II Baby Monitor is that it was often fuzzy sounding and I couldn't easily control the volume on it.  I never really knew if it was set to be loud of quiet, and would often be woken in the middle of the night but a screaming baby made even louder by a too loud monitor.  I wish it had numbers on the volume instead of just the dial.  Then you would have a better idea of the volume it is set at. I wouldn't give this as a gift nor would I recommend it.  Save up the money and buy a more expensive monitor.  It's really one of those things that you use throughout the day and for a very long time.

Great product for the price-- staticky depending on location

4

I received the Graco UltraClear monitor as a baby shower gift, and have used it since (for 10 months now) and love it so far. It wasn't pricey (I checked online afterwards) and it's served its purpose nicely. One of the parent units stopped working (wouldn't turn on) after a couple of months of use, but I called Graco and they sent me a replacement unit out right away, at no cost to me. The customer service was great and I value that a lot in a product. The parent units can be a little noisy, staticky, depending on their location. Once you find a good place for it, it sounds very clear and even the music in the room is toned down and the baby noises sound louder. It's got a good reach, works no matter where I am in the house. I don't use it with batteries too much though, as we have one in the kitchen and one in our bedroom plugged into the wall and that's been great. Overall I think it's a great product, not pricey, good sound quality and excellent customer service.

Graco baby monitor a good choice.

We received the Graco Ultra Clear Baby Monitor as a baby shower gift for our second child.  We love the fact that this baby monitor has two receivers so that we can have one in our bed room and the other in the kitchen or wherever we may be at.  With two different channels, it makes it easy to find the right one to be able to hear our son clearly and we get no other interferance with anything else, like a neighbor's monitor or something.  This monitor has a nice volume feature to allow you to adjust the volume to your comfort level.  We also love the fact that this baby monitor is manufactured by Graco so we know that it is very well made and trusted.  The only complaint that we have with this monitor is that we pick up every little noise that may be in the same room.  For example, in our son's room we have a fan and we can pick up the sounds of the fan just as clearly as picking up his cries and fusses.  This makes for a long night when you are trying to sleep so we have moved the fan as far away from the monitor that we could and it has helped a little bit.

Graco Monitor average

We received this Graco monitor from my baby shower.  I did not register for a monitor because I did not think we really needed one but I was happy when we got one!  We set this up in our nursery it seemed to work great.  It did have 2 different channels that you could try.  One great thing about this monitor is that it can use batteries or you can plug it into the wall.  This was one less thing that needed batteries, which is great!  This worked great because I was able to take it around the house and outside while my daughter was napping.  One day I heard a cry and went to check on my little one and she was sound asleep.  I listened and I heard cries coming from her monitor.  The monitor was picking up our neighbors signal.  I found this freighting and thought if I could hear there monitor than they could possible hear from ours and we never used the monitor again. And really I never have missed it.  It might just be a fluke but I would not recommend this monitor to others.
