Graco SafeSeat Car Seat Review

I bought this seat for my youngest child. I liked the SafeSeat design and found a pattern (Ionic) that was available both for the infant carrier and double stroller. We immediately had some difficulty with the carrier when our child was born 5 weeks early and left the hospital at a weight of 5 lbs. Although the lower weight limit of the carrier is 5 lbs, it was very difficult to buckle my tiny baby into the seat with the straps at the smallest setting. As my baby grew, buckling became easier, and I loved the ease with which I could secure the carrier into the car base.

My tiny newborn gained weight quickly and by the time he was 6 months old, he was nearly 20 lbs. Although the carrier's upper weight limit is 30 lbs, I could barely buckle him in once he was 20 lbs. We eventually had to switch to a different seat as it was impossible for my son to ride in the SafeSeat while wearing a jacket of any kind.

Children's growth can be unpredictable, but I was disappointed to only get 6 months of use out of this seat.
