I would recommend to any parents that if they have the time and patience, shop around at stores that offer a wide selection of strollers, and test drive them with your kids. What works for one famiy, may not work for another. My husband and I tried all kinds of strollers at Target, Babies R Us, and Baby Depot (and maybe even some other stores, I can't remember), and finally decided to get this stroller.
We first got this stroller when our oldest was 2 1/2 and our (now) middle child was 3 months old. We were hoping to find a stroller where we could still use our car seat from the original travel system that was now almost 3 years old. We tried the sit and stands, but were concerned about the little amount of restraint for the older child, knowing he can never sit still if he even thinks he can "escape". One model also offered a sliding seat for him, but without a way to lock it down, I was afraid he would pinch his fingers moving it around. We looked at a few side by side models, but with the size difference between the kids, found they didn't feel as practical for us. Out of all the tandem models, we found this to be the best. It wasn't compatable with our car seat, but there was no problem putting the younger child in the rear seat without the car seat. In the version we got (there are several, and it may depend on the store as to which model you get - or you might be able to order online if you can't find the exact model you want at a particular store) we have the option of 3 or 5 point harnesses in both seats. I sometimes find using it as a five point can be a bit of a hassle, but I definitely like the safety of having it, especially with younger kids.
We didn't end up using this stroller as much after our son turned 3 as he was able to walk around with us more, and had almost reached the weight limit (40 lbs per seat), however, we just had our 3rd child in May, and now use this stroller constantly with our 2 year old and 6 month old. Our daughter loves that she gets to sit in front now, and the youngest seems to love napping in the back with the seat reclined, or sitting up and watching the world go by when he is awake.
I don't really have a problem with opening or closing the stroller, although on occasion, the front wheels flip around while closing, preventing it from locking, and I have to rotate them until it locks, which is a little frustrating, but it doesn't happen very often. We use this stroller almost all the time when shopping with all 3 kids, and I anticipate that we will be using it for at least a couple more years, making it a well worth it purchase.
When our Saturn SL2 was the family car (we now have a minivan), this stroller did fit in the trunk, but I don't think anything else would have with it. It still takes up a lot of room in the minivan, but no more than a large single (travel system) stroller. I actually travel with this stroller, our umbrella stroller, and the single travel system stroller in the back of the van so that I am set no matter which one I need (it really depends on the situation - I still use all 3!).
