My husband and I got lucky when we had our son. most of our big ticket items were either gifts or reliable hand-me-downs. However, when our son grew too big for his small car seat that had two seperate bases (one in each vehicle) we faced an option. Move the car seat from vehicle to vehicle twice per day because I drop him off at daycare and my husband picks him up; or buy a second car seat. I am all of the following, a mom, a safe mom, a comparison shopper and a thrifty spender. I was looking for something that got great safety rating but wasn't going to break us. I hopped on the web and researched. Consumer reports, buyer reviews, etc. Armed with a list of possibilities, which had been double checked and highlighted, we marched off to Babies R Us, 20% off coupon in hand. A couple of the choices were bulky, a couple were impossible to work the straps and a couple weren't at the store. We tried a few and read all the specifics. We finally chose The Graco ComfortSport. I've been so satisfied. The sraps hardly ever twist, my husband says it was easy to install where we have an old model that took him hours!!! My son likes it and even has a cup holder on the side! We spend under $200 and it has some of the top safety ratings. I recommend it 100%!
