very good

Nice and crunchy, with a good taste. Do not get soggy and squishy as with previous brands I have tried.

Delicious Tender Fish

5

Considering these are frozen fish tenders they are really yummy. I wouldn't call them fish sticks because they are larger and not rectangle shape like other frozen fish sticks. They are very tasty and the breading is awesome. It is a golden crispy breading that crunches when you bite into it. It is very greasy, but I don't mind this because that's how fish sticks are supposed to taste. The fish itself is flaky and tastes fresh. You can bake these or I usually pop them into the toaster oven on bake. These are better quality of frozen fish than others and don't taste fake or cheap. I would definitely recommend these.

Just a bit bigger

I love Gorton's. I also love fish. Gorton's Fish Tenders are slightly different from fish sticks. First and foremost, they are bigger than fish sticks. The other difference I noticed between them is that the tenders have a slightly lighter fill. Not as in that there is less actual fish in them. I mean overall - the texture of the fish inside is slightly lighter. The outer crust or crispy crunchy area tastes thicker in texture. Overall, the ratio of fish inside to outer crunchy coating is very appropriate. The tenders aren't really seasoned. The season kind of happens naturally. It doesn't taste like there is the slightest bit of any season added whatsoever. Even though there is no additional season, it somehow still tastes very delicious. They are simple to cook and make for a quick and easy main course. I think this is a high quality product that is worth the price. I would recommend them for anyone.

Gorton's Tenders: Catch of The Day

I've never been a frozen food type cook. These products taste, well, usually like they've been frozen. This Gorton's frozen fish doesn't taste frozen at all. The breading stays on and gets crispy. I am always trying to save time in the kitchen as most working moms are. The batter is on for you already. I don't know how they do it but the batter stays on and tastes delicious. They can be ready in just a few minutes. This one has no 'fishy' aftertaste like some versions. I am very satisfied all the way around with it. It's fast, tasty, and is good for you. You have to try it. You won't be disappointed.

A little greasy and fishy but fine other than that.

Gorton's has made frozen fish treats since 1849, and the products are pretty good. I guess they'd have to be to stay in business that long. I bought Tenders this week. They are billed as "whole battered fish fillets." I must say they are catching really small fish. The fillets are only a couple of inches long. The best thing about Tenders is the batter. The batter really is tasty. It is, however, pretty greasy. Fish isn't. Add this batter, and the healthy fish kind of slips into the junk food category. You can see my fingers in the photo above and see what I mean. If you look at the side of the box, you will be amazed to see all the added ingredients. I suppose all that (or most) must be in the coating. I can't even figure out what kind of fish is used to make these fillets.  As far as the fish, it is a pretty, white fish. I never see any dark areas in the Gorton's fillets. It's fairly flaky especially for frozen fish. On the taste, it's pretty fishy. It looks like a good quality fish just to look, but it tastes more like carp or something. It's not fish I would fry for the family though it isn't terrible. When the fillets are hot and right out of the oven, the fish meat is sort of wet and gooey. That moisture absorbs after a while, and the fish actually tastes better when it's been sitting a while. I am the family left over eater as you might have guessed. I don't get processed fish products very often. I'm usually disappointed. We are fresh fish eaters. It is nice to have something quick from time to time. We're packing for vacation today, so I just popped these and some frozen fries in the oven. It took 20 minutes or so to have a hot meal. We ate everything, but I can't say it was a meal that we'll remember for very long.

These are the best of the frozen fish

Gorton's had the best line of frozen fish. The tenders, especially the beer batter and the popcorn shrimp are always crowd pleasers. I have started serving them at gametime for Sunday football and everyone loves them. It's nice that the kids will start eating fish. The fish is delicate and flaky and the batter is crispy and so tasty. Try eating the shrimp with coctail sauce or wasabi mayo by hellman's. Enjoy!
