Google is an excellent search engine that I use almost exclusively now.I also recently discovered Google Maps. They are much easier to use than Mapquest.com, and load much faster. I wish they would add more versatile "search nearby" features, but they are great.
Another feature my wife recently taught me is that you can text a search (especially for a kind of business) to google and get the results back FAST.
You can also text a request for directions to google and get the turn by turn directions. This feature came in handy when my primary disk for my GPS unit cracked the othe day.
