As a manager of a grass roots non profit, I have to watch every penny we receive and this includes any funds I allocate for commercial advertising. What bothers me about GOOGLE'S sponsored pay per click advertising is that "WE" the business owners have to blindly trust that the hits coming from GOOGLE'S paid advertising ads are indeed legitimate. Sure we can compare our statistics but to what? How do we compare our statistics if we can't be reassured that these "paid" hits are legit? Makes no sense. And it is seemingly impossible, even with the best SEO, to gain top search results without using GOOGLE'S pay per click advertising, this is especially true for a new organization. In addition, I find it very hard to believe that one day my hits cost me 50 cents and the next $5.00??? Something doesn't add up and I'm no longer blindly trusting any organization promoting paid per click advertising. I've learned my lesson that is for sure. I'm opting for a good reputation, good back links and for my site to "cure" with time to receive a good search standing.
