Google News Review

The alarm on my biological clock has gone off.  No use just lying here in bed, I'm up.

Okay, I need coffee and I need news.  So I put on a pot and I go straight to Google News.  Ah, now that's better. 

Google News has been my homepage since they were in Beta testing, at least a couple of years ago.

I'll tell you what I love about it.  If it's news, it's there!  Not only is it there, but you'll be able to read all sides of an issue.  Google gets its news feeds continuously throughout the day from over 4,500 sources.  That's diversity of thought.

This morning, Google could display as many as 733 articles from around the world on Prime Minister Sarkozy's visit with the U.S. Congress.  Coverage by sources such as the New York Times, CNN, Fox News, The Washington Post and the Washington Times are predictably there, but so to are reports from the Islamic Republic News Agency and Aljazeera.

China's Xinhua offers the Chinese perspective.  (Xinhua has a thing for Britney Spears.  Go figure!).

Regardless of the category of news you're intersted in Google brings it to you.

I'll often scan the headlines and print a number of articles that I'll read while inhaling my first couple of cups of coffee.  It makes for a nice morning ritual.

Care to Customize?

If you're not interested in Sports or Business, tell Google and you won't have to suffer through these sections.  Tell Google the kind of News you're interested in and they'll oblige.

My Viewpoint

As a political independent, I like to see more than one slant to a story.  If you want a diverse news reading experience, I recommend you take a look at Google News.
