Google Chrome Review

I decided to try Google Chrome because I love Google Toolbar, Google Mail, Google Calendar, Google Bookmarks Google Documents, etc etc etc.  Basically Google is my search engine of choice and my organizer of choice!  However I am still not all that impressed with Google Chorme but I still use it daily.

The Good

Google Chrome is definitley faster than IE or Mozilla.  A lot of times if IE seems to be hung up on a site, I'll open the site in Google Chrome and it comes up in seconds.  I think it's because this browser trims off the fat of the page.  Background colors and things of that nature are often missing.  Things are simplified and therefore the pages load wicked fast.

I do appreciate how Google Chrome remembers my top visited or recent visited sites.  Whenever I open the browser, little thumbnails are provided for a quick link to sites I've visited lately which is kind of cool.

Another good thing is that it is a nice clean and simple browser.  There isn't a lot of bulk and pages show A LOT when you are in them.  Unfortunately, these are the only three good things about it so far.

The Bad

Um, it doesn't work with Google Toolbar, Google Calendar, Google Bookmarks, Google Mail, etc etc.  Why have a Google browser if I can't link all my Google stuff to it for easy access?  I LOVE my Google Toolbar on IE and can't live without it.  If it weren't for that, I would probably use Google Chrome more often.

Scrolling is weird in this browser.  When I use my mouses scroll it always jumps down A TON and drives me nuts.  I basically have resorted to manual scrolling in this browser because if I change my mouse to be any slower it will be too slow in my other programs.

Finally, I had a problem at a few sites where their text boxes didn't work properly in Google Chrome.  One of the sites was cutting the text box in half and only giving me a few lines to type in.  Another website won't let me do bold or italics even though the text box has buttons for that above it.  Luckily Viewpoints works fine in Google Chrome as I'm writing this review using the browser right now!

As with all browsers nowadays, it has the tab navigation.

So Why do I Use it?

I still use it because it is FAST and sometimes I just need a quick look up.  Some sites, like Facebook, are always freezing up in IE but not in Google Chrome.  So whenever I have problems with IE, I open the site in Google Chrome and it usually helps.  But without being able to access my Google Bookmarks and other Google products, I won't be making a permanent change anytime soon.
