Google 411 Directory takes the pain out of your cell phone directory assistance bill. I recently took a look at my Verizon phone bill (after my husband gasped and clutched his heart in pain) and realized that I had made SEVERAL calls to 411. While each of them were justified, after all I had been traveling, but still at .75 each they really added up. I thought there has to be a better (cheaper) way to get the 411 and there is, with Google 411 Directory.
Google 411 Directory is a new service available from Google, and guess what? It's not on your computer. It's on your cell phone! You simply call I 800 GOOG 411, I suggest keeping it stored on your cell phone. Then you state city and state or you can type in with your cell phone key pad the zip code. Next you state the business or type of business you are looking for, such as Pizza Delivery or Pizza Inn. Choose the numbered item you are looking for. You are then connected to the telephone number for free. You can also have the telephone number texted to you, and if your cell phone has web access you can also have it "mapped" and sent to your cell phone so you can go pick up that pizza you were craving.
My Viewpoint: Google 411 Directory Assistance is absolutely essential for a busy person who depends greatly on their cell phone. For me, it could have helped me locate a restaurant, the airport telephone number as well as assist me with the phone calls to hotels while I was traveling instead of walking in and out of hotels asking if they had a room and what the rate was. There is nothing easier than hitting the speed dial button for Google 411 and then stating what I need. Not only do I get a number of choices, but I can also have the telephone number I choose texted to my cell phone, giving me the opportunity to place the call again or even save it if it is someplace (like the Chinese carry out down the street) that I may frequent. Best of all, it is free and my husband will not have to gasp in dismay again at the 15 calls placed to 411 on one phone bill ever again.
The only improvement I would make on it is the option to have a live person, as with noisy kids in the car sometimes my statements are unclear or I need to check the location with a real person as I have done in the past with 411 directory assistance.
