To the Point

http://www.goodsearch.com/ is a search engine with a twist. Every time you do a search a penny is added to the charity (or school) of your choice. I learned about this because one of the people in my Sjogren’s Syndrome list serve sent out an e-mail.

SEARCH AND GIVE

If you sign up with goodsearch.com, and tell them what charity you like, they give the charity a penny for every search you complete. Not a lot of money I know, but you're searching the internet anyway, so why not! And, it doesn't come out of your pocket, nobody knows it's you, etc. It's...

As an active member of Bunny Buddies of Houston, a non-profit 501(c)(3), I am delighted that there are venues out there such as Goodsearch that puts needed money easily at a charity's fingertips.  I've been using it since the beginning of this year as have other members and it's an easy way to accumulate money, especially when you spread the word to your friends and family.

I read about GoodSearch.com here at Viewpoints and decided to check it out a few months ago. This search engine allows users to pick a charity and they will donate money to that charity based on the amount of hits and purchases generated through this website.

About GoodSearch:

  • allows you to choose a charity or add one (they will verify that the charity is non-profit)
  • you can change charities at any time--when we do updates to our computer, often it reverts back to a default of no charity, so I encourage you to check to be sure that your charity appears in the box if you are using this site

What a wonderful way to help with much needed funding and contributions to a charity of your choice! The best part is, that it does not require that you do anything different than what you are ALREADY doing .... Searching for Information! Many of our favorite charities rely heavily on individual contributions in order that they may fund much needed research and/or funding to those in need. I get personal satisfaction knowing that when I use Goodsearch to get the information I need, I am contributing to the charity of my choice! My precious 29 year old niece died this past October 14th, after a...

I do online searches everyday, all the time. When I found out I could earn money for my favorite charity with all my curiosity without changing a thing except the search engine I use, I was thrilled!

Well, honestly, at first I was skeptical. But I haven't noticed a bit of difference between finding results on Google and finding them on GoodSearch. It works just as quickly and returns lots of great, relevant results.

The only downside I've noticed is that it gets taken down for maintenance pretty regularly, and I haven't figured out yet what the times for that are, so if I can't into it I go use...

I love to do research online and have always been a Google enthusiast, until I learned about Good Search.  What I love about Good Search is that charities are rewarded for your searches.  I first heard about this site from a local museum I volunteer for and they said they were now on the list as a recipient of Good Search money.  The site is simple and easy to use.  You just go to the site which is setup like any other search engine and pick the charity you would like the profits to go too.  They have so many good causes to choose from.  So if you are into saving the environment, helping... review »

goodsearch.com is a great search engine and a great way to raise real money for charity without any extra effort or expense.  You just pick a charity to raise money for and then search for whatever you wanted to search for like you would any other search engine.  But unlike other search engines, everytime you click search, a penny is donated to your charity.  A penny may not sound like much, but it adds up in a hurry.

The search engine is powered by yahoo, so it's a good tool.  The results are always good.  Sometimes better than the results that I get with other engines.  My mother loved...

Very easy to help earn money for your charity.  It works best if you have a lot of people who are searching for your particular charity to try to raise money.  The ASPCA has received over $7,000 in donations!   Now you can shop through goodsearch.com and the vendors will donate a percentage to your charity.  Some vendors give a lot, some very little - but it all adds up and every penny counts.  I good search for the Kankakee County Humane Society!

One bad point, is that if the charity your goodsearching for doesn't have $20 raised by the September 30, but off date, they will not get a check. ...

GoodSearch is a front-end to the Yahoo search engine that donates 50% of their advertising revenue (about a penny per search) to charity. Users just need to select their favorite charity and begin searching. The selected charity is stored as a cookie, so subsequent searches are automatically counted.

The really nice thing about GoodSearch is that there is no form to fill out with personal information - they don't even want to know your name. The cookie is sufficient to credit each search to your selected charity.

Recently, GoodSearch has added donations based on online shopping - "GoodShop." As with...

The mission of the Barnaba Institute is to raise awareness about human trafficking as it pertains to sexual exploitation through education, media and training of professionals and by providing support, guidance and care to sexually exploited and trafficked youth and adults.

The President, Frank N. Barnaba, helped form the Barnaba Institute because he felt there was a growing need for the education of professionals, law enforcement, students and nonprofits on human trafficking and sexual exploitation. Mr. Barnaba has 26 years of experience working against commercial sexual exploitation with...

Using Goodsearch is so easy.. they have a tool bar you can install so your search engine is right at you fingertips.. Lots of major Charites are already on board, but lots of small ones as well and it is real easy for a charity to get themselves added to the list. Once they get added the site makes it easy for them to notify people and add links to their emails etc. .. they help the charity generate donations! And if you can't decide which charity to choose.. no problem, you can swich charitys with just a couple of clicks.. give to a different charity every day!  The only con is sometimes the...

GoodSearh is a great way to earn money for your cause.. If you don't have one look for mine it is Blue Ridge Boxer Rescue.  We need all the money we can get. And every single cent we get goes to our dogs we have rescued. None of our volunteers get reimbursed for anything including gas. We rescue Boxers every day and they are never adopted until they are medically cleared. If that means surgery then we get them that. We operate solely on donations. So please use BRBR as your cause also when you choose to use GoodSearch. It is easy and the same as any other search engine, actually better because... review »

I use this search engine all the time. It is just as good as google, but every time  you  search, they donate a penny to your favorite charity.

So if you are going to search anyway, why not do it and do some good too?

I look up web sites thru them daily, all my searches go to The ASPCA, but they have a pull down list to choose from. You do not have to use the same charity every time you search either.

If you are a non-profit organization, you can sign up and have donations go to your charity.

It's a win, win situation for everyone!

I love this site.  I don't have to change anything about my habits, but I can still support my favorite charity.  Because it is powered by Yahoo, I get the very same results that I would have using that engine instead.

The only downside is that they are very powerful.  There have been times where the server was too busy to process my search :-(

Give a penny to your fav charity with each seach! You need to search anyway, why not give some cash to your favorite charity? At the end of the year, you may find that you've donated $20 or more for doing NOTHING.

You get to pick you own charity, & you can see the money accrue as you go!
