Good Housekeeping Review Summary

One of the oldest magazines in the world (established in 1885) is also one of the most popular with women. Good Housekeeping is such a recognizable name that "The Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval" was, for years, the de facto sign of high quality when given to a product. Good Housekeeping is a monthly magazine for women filled with articles that " have a sense of genuineness, leaving the reader with the feeling that they've walked along for the journey in each story. " as well as tips, recipes and product reviews. It has also led the way for change and innovation, taking action that led to The Pure Food and Drug Act and getting cigarette advertising banned from magazines. Mostly, though, readership is high because "There is something for everyone in this magazine."

I've read just about every issue of Good Housekeeping magazine since I was eleven years old.  My mom still subscribes to this magazine and I catch up on the issues each time I visit her.

What I like most about the magazine are the human interest stories they feature each month.  The articles have a...

I subscribe to Good Housekeeping. Now, I am double subscribed. Sigh.

Someone on a forum mentioned that Good Housekeeping has a product testing panel. I do some product testing for other companies, so this did not raise any red flags.

The sign up page is here:

I found a link a few months ago for a free subscription to Good Housekeeping. I had read these magazines at doctor's offices and friends home, so I kind of knew what they were about already about.  I signed up for the free subscription, and have received the first couple of issues.  I would have to say I am quite satisfied.

The thing that I like about this magazine the most is that it is so well-rounded.  There is something for everyone in this magazine.  They have recipes, seasonal articles, health and home articles.  I even have found quite a few coupons in the magazine as well.  I am quite...

I love the easy recipes in this magazine. I am always trying new recipes and love that most of the recipes are quick and easy. I also like the section where they handle a consumer complaint when everything and everyone else has failed them. They give hope to us "little people". My favorite section would have to be the recalls. With so many things going wrong these days I appreciate the fact that they take the time out to inform the consumer.

I fell in love with Good Housekeeping when I read my very first issue. I look at it as a good companion & adviser in my daily life. I especially like the recipes in it and it brings my husband & I closer as we like to try out most of those recipes.

I have signed up for its eNewsletter that comes into my email inbox now & then. There are more interesting stuff to learn about, more good article to read in those newsletter other than the magazines in print.

I've been subscribed to Good Housekeeping for about 4 to 5 years now.  I look forward to getting the magazine every month.  I love to read all of the tips they have.  Things I would never think of.  I love to read the advice columns.  It's amazing the things they cover!  There are many stories that are inspirational.  I also look forward to getting the latest bargains and gadgets they find.  And I trust their review of products.  However, the decorating and organizing idea's are never geared towards a home that is modern or contemporary.  Mostly it is for a home decorated with colonial... review »

I have fond memories of reading this magazine as a child. My mom always subscribed and of course I always read it. I now get a subscription for my mom and myself for Christmas each year.

I find the articles very useful, informative and a joy to read. I love the helpful hints from Heloise. She has good hints to help keep your home clean.

I truly would miss reading this magazine each month. I look forward to getting. I have read this magazine for nearly 30 years now and I do no plan on stopping.

This magazine is a great value for the price, which I would happly pay more for.

I have been a subscriber since a young woman. I always find new ideas, and recipes to try on my family. Some of the fashion ideas are great and some are extreme but, it really is your taste. Also, the stories about how to budget your families meals, and great ideas on how to clean the house efficently without working so hard.

In all it has always been the magazine for the modern woman and her ideas. To help her  better in parentlng and to be a better wife

I was so surprised when I picked up a copy of Good Housekeeping. It has been years since I've read this magazine and to be honest I stopped because it stopped being relevant to my lifestyle. I was amazed at how it had been updated - it was relevant, interesting, and very well put together. The formatting had changed and was very eye pleasing covering a wide variety of subjects that I could relate to. It was no longer the 'old lady's' magazine that I remembered it as being. It had fresh look that would appeal to a wide variety of age groups.

When I was a little girl my neighbor would give me her old issues of Good Housekeeping and since that time I have been hooked.  I look forward to my monthly subscription arriving in my mailbox.  It has all kinds of articles that range from health and beauty to advice from Heloise.  It always covers many topics and you have a great variety of stories and of course they have the Good Housekeeing seal on their products and do review products for the home time to time.

I was a past subscriber for many years.  I do not like all the advertisements in the magazine.  There are more ads than there are articles.  The magazine no longer seems to be the bargain that it used to be.  After the subscription ran out they kept sending me renewal notices.  This cost could be alleviated and used as a savings to current subscribers.  One or 2 notices are enough, we don't need 4 or 5.

I have been reading this magazine since I was a kid.  My grandmother subscribed and I would spend summers at her house reading her old issues.  This magazine is affordable, informative, and fun!!  I love the articles, the people they feature on the cover, etc.  I must say I am a little tired of the McCauley Septuplets, but that's ok!!  I read this every month and hardly ever toss old my old copies!

I have been a subscriber of Good Housekeeping for 30 years. It is the best magazine for women that I know of. It has cooking, fashion, beauty, gardening, decorating, short stories and much more. It also keeps you updated on celebrities and the latest news stories. It is great on health topics. The magazine has always kept up with the times. I would recommend it to anyone who loves to read as I do.

i have subscribed to good housekeeping on and off over many years and have always enjoyed the magazine.  It has a variety of items to look at in it from stories to ads to touching articles on everything from movie stars to animals.  I like the variety, they should keep up the good work.  The only critic i have is that they used to have longer book stories by famous authors than they do now.
