A few years ago I spent some time in a hospital where the TV had five channels so in the afternoon I could watch soaps or the food network. I like to eat and am a fair cook so I watched the food network every afternoon. I liked the show with the "Bam" chef and Rachel Ray was cute, but the show I… read full review »

Good Eats explores not only certain foods of the kitchen, but how certain foods came about to the kitchen.  This show is hosted by Alton Brown who is not only a serious chef, but he can be funny at times when explaining the steps of food science.  Each episode revolves around a certain… read full review »

I love to cook, love to eat, and often watch cooking shows for entertainment. — That's why I tuned into Good Eats in the first place, but I admit I was slow to warm to the show.   Since I dislike almost all sitcoms as being insufferably silly, that was my first impression of Alton Brown.  I couldn't get past the silly skit at the show's opening. "This looks like it would appeal to 10-year-old boys," I thought. — — But a cooking friend told me to stick with it.   "Watch a couple of full episodes and you'll be hooked."  That was true, I'm a great Alton… read full review »

I was introduced to what I could almost call a Good Eats addiction, by my sister a few months ago. Having tasted the good work that comes from watching his amazing show I know he knows what he's talking about. He teaches you recipes, but teaches you why you mix certain things together. Two thumbs up for Alton Brown! You have to see him to believe it, you'll never know what hit you! —… read full review »

I have enjoyed watching this show since it began!! It's not only a cooking show, but a lesson in science as well (which, I was never good at.) Alton Brown shows us the reason behind why a particular food combination does what it does! Then, right before every commercial, there's tidbits about where the food/fruit/vegetable either orginated from, or what it's other uses are for. It's a great learning… read full review »

This show is amazing.  It never ceases to amaze me the awesome stuff that I learn from watching this show.  If you are a professional cook or even a terrible cook, this show is for you.  Alton Brown takes a look at one topic per show and give you an indepth look in that particular topic, different ways to cook it, how to cook it, how not to cook it, why certian things happen to different food (turns brown, etc) and the scientific reasons behind it all.  I truely enjoy this… read full review »
