I heard from a friend they are now under new management, and boy you can tell: I had to deal with a condescending, rude sales manager who spoke to me like I was a complete idiot. I have phenomenal credit, and they offered me a mediocre APR on the small amount I was going to be financing (I was putting a large amount of cash down). I let him know I would be going to work with my bank as I knew I could get a lower rate through them, and he then informed me he had "credit vouchers" or "coupons" he would use for me to get the APR down .25%. What a joke! Everyone knows the APR you pay on loans you finance is based on your FICO score/credit score...and nothing else. It was a complete insult.
He also kept trying to sell me more basic models of the vehicle I wanted, with fewer options and wouldn't budge when it came to the price. After much of wasted time going back and forth, he finally found a vehicle I was interested in at a "sister store" located in another suburb. He asked that I give him money to "hold" the car, and asked for a debit card or check. I gave him my American Express card, and he again said he would prefer cash, check or debit card. I insisted on using my AMEX (due to the fact they have a great dispute policy...thank GOD I did this) and he finally relented and I charged $500 to hold the car. Keep in mind, I have signed NOTHING: no contracts, no paperwork...nothing other than the charge slip.
I ended up going to another dealership the next day and they were amazing! They offered me a free iPhone (when he said the promotion was over) and the SYNC system at no charge as well (another incentive he said he would not honor). I also received a $1,900 cash back incentive, when he only offered me $1,500. I also got way lower financing through this second dealership. So, I decided to purchase the car from them. I called and spoke to Golf Mill Ford that morning before I went to the second dealership, just to see if they would honor the free incentives, and at this time, NOT to go get the other car yet as I had not made up my mind. The sales manager that was there at the time said he wasn't sure, but that he would call me back. I never got a call from him letting me know either way. I ended up buying the car from the other dealership.
Now the first sales manager I had dealt with says he will not refund my money for the hold, as he said it was "spent" picking up the other car. What they actually did was swap the cars, and no funds were actually spent doing this -- other than gas from driving the cars by the salesperson. If the sales manager there that day had listened to me, I said to HOLD OFF on doing this until he got back to me about the incentives. Needless to say, I am now moving forward with a dispute on the credit card for the $500.
It's a sad day when gown men stomp their feet and cry when they don't get what they want. Withholding money from a consumer when there is zero documentation to support a claim is not just bad business, it's petty. Be wary of this dealership...they are dishonest and will scam you any way they can to make a sale.
This is why carsalesmen get the bad reputation they have.
Take a look at my review of Joyce Ford were I spent tons of money and happy I did!
