Very excited about this unit.  We were looking for this type of bike to complete our home gym and could not be happier with it.  It is quiet, everything works just as it should, I use it every day and am extremely pleased with it.  Love the little ledge to set books or magazines on.  After reading other reviews, we  took our monitor to our local Radio Shack and they were able to furnish us with an AC-to-DC Power Adapter (SKU 273-1766 6V 800mA AC adapter with an SKU 273-1716 Adaptaplug M) for just $23.99 plus tax.  I could not guarantee it to others, but it is working beautifully on ours--much better than new Duracell batteries.  Also, with this adapter, there is no hassle with the battery compartment door (which can be rather frustrating). The fan works great, all the programs, and the cardiovascular feature is much more accurate with the power cord.

We have been looking for a good recumbent bike, but they were so expensive, we were very happy when we found this model at WalMart for this price.  It works as well as the expensive ones at the gym, and you don't have to wait to use it, or limit your time to 1/2 hour at a time.

We have recommended this unit to friends and they have purchased one for  use in their home.  We are extremely pleased with it and would recommend it to others.

Sorry to have misled anyone, as we had friends who went to the same Radio Shack we used and they had to pay extra for their tip also, We took our panel with us the first trip, that was how we got the correct equipment and were able to furnish the parts numbers in our review.

I see, according to the Jan. 5, 2009, response, that they had to pay extra for the adapter tip. We had friends who bought one at the same Radio Shack and they had to pay extra for the tip, also. We did not have to pay extra for it. Hope you can find one, we love it on ours. Makes the 230R much more user friendly.

thanks for your review, we were having trouble finding the adapter, but thanks to you we are going to get one, Because Please, 4 "D" batteries aren't going to last long if you use it an hour a day 5x a week. Thanks again for the advice.

Thanks so much for that helpful review! We just picked up the AC adapter from Radio Shack. One more little bit of advice for others who encounter this problem. When you buy the adapter you will also have to get a tip for the adapter. The tip does not come with the AC adapter so you have to make sure to bring the control panel of the bike with you to the store to find the proper tip. When you put the tip in the AC adapter, align the plus sign with the word tip on the AC adapter to set the polarity correctly, this will all make sense when you buy the adapter at the store.
