This beautifully shot film has artful scenes so delicious, they'll likely to float past your mind's eye for years to come. And upon serious reflection, Golden Door is so much more than an art film (albeit one worth twice its ticket price). read full review »I saw the Golden Door at SIFF (The Seattle International Film Festival),
and I thought it was good. The simplicity of the film adds to its charm. You are not beaten over the head with metaphors, and nothing "so disturbing it's edgy" happens like in many independent films these days. All of the main characters are likable, and the plot seems fairly realistic. However, I am definitely not an expert on Italy or the immigrant experience. The main point of the film is to reflect on the immigrant experience of coming to America, and I think the film does a good job of showing all of the various aspects...
