Golden Corral - Terre Haute, IN Review

While visiting my oldest son who lives in Terre Haute Indiana, where he also attends college, we decided to go get something to eat. My youngest son like to eat at buffetts as he can usually get his two favorite foods, mac and cheese and mashed potatoes and gravy. So we decide on the Golden Corral, as we had ate there a few times before(my husband is from Terre Haute and so we visit family there). We arrived and as it was Father's Day they raised the prices to match a holiday occassion, or that was the reason the cashier gave my oldest son. I didn't really care and just paid and went on. Went went to our table, gave thanks and then proceeded to the buffett to get our food. My youngest was in luck as they had just brought out fresh mac and cheese and mashed potatoes and gravy, so he loaded up and was off to the table. My oldest just decided he would have the grilled to order steaks, so he asked for a med-well, and received a med-rare, but ate it anyway, with some fresh rolls. I did not do as well, I went for the vegetables and fruit. The tomatoes I picked were bad like rotten, the cabbage was spoiled, the watermelon was like onion flavored-gross, then there was the roast beef, that had to have been out there all day as it tasted like it had been treated with vinegar(you know the taste of meat when it turns bad). After tasting this I did not want anymore food, so I just sat and talked to my son. I did tell our waitress about the food and asked her to tell the manager, she was obviously not interested in her customers as she never told the manager(according to what the manager told me later). The waitress tried to ignore us as much as possible, but did bring my youngest a couple of drink refills, but only him. Upon our trying to exit the resruarant we found that the doors were blocked by some employees smoking. I asked them to move and not to smoke until we had a chance to leave the restuarant, then one of them decided to call me a foul name. I then went back inside the restuarant to complain to the manager, but I had to wait for another employee to go outside to the front of the restaurabt where she was sitting on a bench smoking and get her.When she finally came in, I told her about my whole evening there, the bad food, the bad service , and the name calling when I had asked the employee not to smoke and to move from the exit. I asked her why this Golden Corral was so bad when the one in Plainfield Indiana was excellent with it's customer service, food and employees behavior? That question she did not respond to. She did no apologize for any of my bad service or bad food or the rudeness or name I was called. I left and a couple of days later I contacted the Corporate office and told them of the incident. They had the D.M. contact me and he did not apologize either, all he did tell me was that the two employees that were smoking in the exit were fired. He said that he could arrange for me to have a free meal at the Golden Corral in Plainfield if I would like. I did not get an apology, but instead it almost sounded like he did not believe me. I told him I did not want the free food or a refund as all I really did want as a customer was the respect the was due to me and fresh food. I do not know why he would fire two employees for smoking outside the doors, when the manager was sitting outside in front of the restuarant on a bench herself smoking, as I did see her, I just did not know she was the manager, as she did not look like a manager. He did not address the fact that I was called a foul name in front of my sons, or the rudeness of our server.This restuarant has no customer service and with a supervisor like this dirstict manager, it is no wonder the Health Department keeps closing them down. And this is a fact you can look up in the Terre Haute Tribune, the particular artical I read was dated 11/28/08, as it headlined the paper for that day.I would reccommend that everyone stay away from this restuarant.
