Most HelpfulWe bought this one basically for two reasons: it was small and it was inexpensive. The cost was around $140. We wanted it small because it sits on top...

Most HelpfulI bought a new house in 2000 and quickly learned that the basement smelled damp and musty. The cure was a dehumidifier and I bought an inexpensive GoldStar DH3010B, a model that is now obsolete. The DH3010B worked fine for about six years, then the unit's fan seized. I fixed it without too much trouble...
read full review »This was the cheapest dehumidifier we could get at Home Depot. We have a finished basement in our small house so we thought it was good enough.
While it does the job, and frankly is powerful enough for our size house, it kicks out so much hot air that in the hot summer months, I really feel my AC has to make up for it. I figure my energy costs are twice what the dehumidifier consumes as a result.
Dehumidifiers can get expensive, so if the hot air isn't an issue, this is a decent unit to buy. It's dependable and I don't think it needs to be emptied too often.
I do wish it would shut off a little...
read full review »While it works it works really well, we have had to replace two. They both lasted about 1 1/2 years but it does work well. As far as quiet it is in our basement and so the noise is not really bothersome but there is some noise to it. It is amazing how much water it accumulates.
Our old dehumidifier "poofed" and died...
We use the dehumidifier in our basement of a colonial. The GoldStar is doing a great job. It is a bit noisy, but since it's in the basement, I really don't care. We use a hose to drain it into our sump, so the basket is not a problem at all.
Overall, it is great for the $139 it cost at Home Depot.
The goldstar dehumidifier gets more water out of the air, then any dehumidifier I seen any way.The goldstar is very very quite' you might hear a little hum now and then. but overall the goldstar is very well priced and really good at doing it's it job.very good job
GOD BLESS

A typical dehumidifier wheel system is shown in Figure 1. In this system, there are two flow streams--supply air and regeneration air. As the dehumidifier wheel rotates, the water molecules are removed from the supply air and transferred to the regeneration air. Adjacent to this dehumidifying device is a heating device to heat the regenerator inlet air to a temperature much higher than the supply air. This elevated temperature is necessary to regenerate the desiccant coating on the wheel matrix for dehumidification of the supply air. The heating device can be an electric or gas heater,...
