We bought this one basically for two reasons: it was small and it was inexpensive. The cost was around $140. We wanted it small because it sits on top of a file cabinet. At 15 inches wide by about 13 inches deep and 21 inches tall this fit the bill.
When we came home from vacation our house was musty especially the basement. The GoldStar has been working day and night and it's doing a great job. It's in one finished room; the others are in the unfinished area.
It's easy to use. All that is on the unit is the speed fan which gives me two speeds, an auto shut-off light and a humidity control knob. It holds 30 pints of water which are easily emptied by removing the water bucket which is in the front of the unit. It has a handle so it's easy to carry to the downstairs bathroom. There is also a font and rear grille, an air filter, a brush, and a hose.
It's a bit noisy. I've had one of the kids sleeping downstairs over the year. She can sleep through anything. The cycle of it going on and off would wake me up, however. Still for the price it does a great job.
The warranty is 1 year on labor and parts and 5 years on the compressor.
