Going Native is a company located in California which focuses on prepared Indian curries. They have several different varieties, including pumpkin curry, potato and bamboo shoots curry, and my favorite, the Green Vegetable curry.
Most prepared meals have, at best, bits of vegetation. The quality of stuff that you'd find in the bargain section of the supermarket. Serviceable, but hardly gourmet. Most companies spend their money on the sauce, the seasoning. And that's okay. Going Native really goes the extra mile here. Pieces of eggplant and carrot and potato large enough to be two forkfulls in a rich, creamy green curry that's mildly spicy and complex. it is labeled as hot. It is not. That is the one caveat I would make. But the spice blend and the quality of ingredients is evident in this product, and well worth the premium price. It's a step above Americanized "Indian" food, but if you are a true native, you might not be as impressed as I was.
I have had this product with rice, and by itself as a quasi-soup. Liked it both ways. And being health-conscious, that's important. The package lists two servings, but seriously, as an entree, it's really a meal for one. As a side dish, I can see two servings however.
The packaging! It's fantastic. It's microwavable in the bag. You just snip a hole at the top, and you are two minutes from a nearly authentic, really good-for-you curry. Low fat, low sodium, and low calorie does not have to sacrifice taste. This product is proof.
