As a retiree and a Senior Citizen, I am very fortunate that my former employer still picks up the tab for my prescription insurance plan.  I have already written in glowing terms about my plan, Caremark CVS Mail Order Pharmacy.  I am very concerned, however, by the plight of several of my acquaintances who have no prescription insurance plan at all.  They are paying full (sometimes astronomical) prices and often going without medicine they need but cannot afford so I was interested to learn about Global Pharmacy Canada.

Since 2004, Global Pharmacy Canada has been filling 60,000 prescriptions a year, providing 15,000 customers in the United States a good deal and great savings via generic medications produced in India.  Prescriptions from India? I wondered, but apparently many generic medicines we have been using already have come from India which is the largest producer of generic prescriptions in the world.  One of the good things about global economy is that a company up in Canada can provide quality Indian generic prescriptions to Americans at a great savings to those who may have no other option.

Global Pharmacy Canada does not participate in any Medicare-sponsored insurance plans but provides vital medicines at costs 60-80% less expensive than retail which could be a blessing to those uncovered by insurance plans or who are wading through the infamous Medicare "Doughnut Hole"  (the gap in the coverage between $2,700 and $4,350) which is now costing a lot of people $1,650 out of pocket compared with a potential $415 tab from GPC.

MY VIEWPOINT:

Global Pharmacy Canada could be the best game in town when it comes to saving money on prescriptions for a lot of people.  There are certain drawbacks, however, in my opinion:

Valium or Tylenol 37 (and other narcotic drugs) cannot be imported.

Some crucial medicines do not have generic substitutions yet.

Orders take two weeks for delivery.

Only Visa or checks may be used for payment, no Mastercard  or Amex.

The shipping rate of $12 (for entire order) is a little higher than insurance plans.

In spite of these drawbacks, if I was not covered by CVS Caremark Mail Order Pharmacy, I think I would give Global Pharmacy Canada a shot.  If you are interested, phone Toll Free 866-850-6021, Fax 866-655-8460, or go to GlobalPharmacyCanada.com for further details.

This is an excellent review. Lots of good information on an important subject. I'm so lucky to have insurance for my expensive meds, but if I didn't I sure would look into this pharmacy.

Yah, it looks like it can, a three-month maximum it says. If I were you I would dip a toe into their website as it is a fount of information plus I think new customers can get $10 off the first order. I'm gonna snail-mail you this thing i used to get my information from so you'll have the coupon.

How are you doing? I bet this is going to be Scrabble night, huh?

Excellent review! I'm wondering whether it would be worth comparison shopping for some of the really expensive meds we get with the drug prescription supplement. Do you know if prescriptions can be filled on a 90-day basis?
