Spring is when we all start doing those little cleanup projects and we Rednecks are no different. I painted my driveway walls and now it was time to paint the mailbox post so it too could stand out and look its best. Living in the country I see most wood either painted Barn Red or White, I had to be different so I picked a Chocolate Brown for my mailbox post.

Glidden Evermore Exterior Latex Satin Paint

I bought this at the same time as my driveway wall paint and had them tint it a nice Chocolate Brown. I didn't need much as the post is only 4" x 8" and 36" tall, so I just got a pint of this paint. Wood soaks up more paint than concrete but I was hoping it wouldn't suck too much, so I was sweating a bit on this job.

I wound up putting 3 coats of paint on the post as it sucked a bunch up but I finally got it all done. There is one slight problem with all the painting I have done this weekend but it will be okay. You see now my driveway walls look great, the mailbox post looks great but now my mailbox looks out of place...lol Problem is that it is made of a plastic material so I need to find the right paint for it. If not I saw a real nice wooden mailbox that would look pretty snazzy on top of my freshly painted post!

Bottom Line

Once again cleanup was a breeze using warm soapy water to clean my paint brush up. The Satin finish of this paint looks pretty good and makes it stand out nicely at the end of my driveway. There are many brands of paint out there but I have always had good results with Glidden so why change now.

lol, Thanks! I still have so much to do and I am not sure if my wife would let me just take off like that. Waiting for the mail to run now so I can paint the box itself. ;)

I was going to make a remark about me not leaving the mailman out either but it sounded so bad when I thought about it. Haha. Good review as always.

The Avon lady wants you to upgrade the doorbell too! ;-)

LoveisJoy wrote on May 12, 2008 at 12:50PM

Doesn't that always happen? You fix up one thing and then have to fix up EVERYTHING in the area. At least paint is relatively inexpensive. :)

You so spoil your mail man :)
