After I patched the big chunk in my driveway retainer wall it was time to make it shine. Yep I wanted it to stick out and grab attention to my house. So off to Home Depot I went and I found Glidden Evermore Exterior Flat Latex Paint. The sun hits my driveway for a majority of the day so flat paint was the better choice, after all the white was going to glow pretty bright anyway so there was no need for a glossy finish....Even us Rednecks have our limits.....lol

Glidden Evermore Exterior Flat Latex Paint

This is a white tint base paint so there was no need to add any color to it, I did think of matching the house but figured it would look tacky so white is what I stayed with. The walls had never been painted before so I knew there would be a lot of it sucked into the concrete since it was pretty rough from the years of sitting unprotected. These walls are 16' long x 10" wide and about 22" high on the outside and 10" high on the inside. I was hoping a gallon would be enough and crossed my fingers.

The top which takes the most abuse (sun, rain, hail and snow...plus bird droppings) did suck up quite a bit of paint. This stuff dries quick (about an hour) and I had a bit of the familiar Kansas breeze to help dry it faster. By the time I got one wall painted I was able to apply a second coat. After getting both walls painted with a double coat I was about blinded from the sun shining off my pretty painted walls.

It spread very easy even on the rough surface and the finished walls now look sparkling new and shine in the afternoon sun. My neighbors even noticed and complimented me on how much the paint improved the look of my driveway.

Bottom Line

This paint cleans up easy with warm water and soap so my cleanup was fast and without a hitch. With 2 coats on each wall I still have about a pint left for touch up if I need it. I paid $12 for a gallon and I am pleased with the ease of painting and clean up. I now have a distinctive look as nobody else has bothered painting theirs, although with the looks and compliments I have gotten I figure more will get painted in the near future.....lol

Love my dirt roads...we get potholes but they are gone as soon as they appear. The guy around the corner grades our roads twice a month or when ever a hole pops up. Our roads are just as smooth if not smother than the paved roads....Thank God I'm a Country Boy! More pics coming of my yard in a soon to be done review......Some pretty green grass! ;)

You truly are a country boy, eh? Don't see many dirt roads living in the suburbs of Detroit! :) Great job and pictures!!!

HaHa! That's a good one. On the other hand, if someone would paint for me, I'd be fine with most any color too. That neon green though . . . hum. Maybe not.

Painting just makes everything look great, I need to do some more but haven't decided what color yet and my wife just says...I don't know.......If I start painting things neon green she may start knowing real quick...lol ;)

Looks good. I need to get off the computer and paint. It's inside painting I have to do though. Well I need to do some outside, but it's rained all day here.

It has rained every evening here for a week, today being the first without it. Knocked my planting back but I will catch up soon I hope! ;)

I was struck by the line, "....the sun hits my driveway most of the day.....". It's an experience we haven't had in Washington this year. If you have a picture of the sun lying around, email it to me. I've forgotten what it looks like.
