Glaceau - Vitamin Water 10 —

Quick View: I think most people have tried, or at least heard of Glaceau Vitamin Water. It's flavored water that provides antioxidants and vitamins for energy, focus, relaxation, and other specialized things. I drank it occasionally but hated wasting so many calories on flavored water. Enter Glaceau Vitamin Water 10. This vitamin water has many of the same flavors as the original but is only 10 calories per 8 ounce serving - 25 for a 20 ounce bottle. And, it's naturally sweetened. Yay, right? Well, sort of ....

About Glaceau Vitamin Water 10

I was delighted to see Glaceau Vitamin Water 10 because I am trying to wean myself off of Diet cola and wanted a healthier alternative. (I know, swamp water is healthier than Diet Coke...). I saw the four available flavors (Energy, Essential, XXX, and Multi-V) and bought 16 bottles because they were on sale for 99 cents each. They normally sell for about $1.79 for a 20 ounce bottle.

Glaceau Vitamin Water 10 is sweetened with a blend of crystalline fructose, erythritol, and rebiana (aka Stevia extract) which are, indeed all natural sweeteners. They are reportedly safe or at least much safer than aspartame. I tried the "Essential Orange -Orange" flavor with a whole bunch of Vitamin C in it and a a nice amount of other vitamins. The good thing about this water is, of course, the low calorie count. I can drink a while 20 ounce bottle and only consume 25 calories. It also has no sodium in it like soda and energy drinks, and only 4 grams of carbs. But the big con for me is the overly sweet taste. I never understood why, when manufacturers make low calorie or diet versions of drinks, they feel they need to make the drink super sweet to make up for the calorie loss.

The sweetness doesn't leave an aftertaste but wow. It's sweet. Nothing like the gentle flavor of energy drinks. This is IN YOUR FACE sweet flavored water. I didn't finish the bottle I started drinking. I was drinking it like I do the stuff they give you before a colonoscopy or a lower GI. Sip, swallow, cringe, do over.

Now, I know that my Diet Coke habit is an acquired taste because it really is swill. And I know if I keep drinking Glaceau Vitamin Water 10, my taste buds will become used to the sweetness and I won't even notice it. The question is, do I want to bother? I mean, a glass of water and a vitamin supplement do the same thing as most of these waters.

This water is NOT intended for people who are exercising and need to replenish their electrolytes like Gatorade and Powerade does. It is just for people who want an extra shot of vitamins and/or antioxidants as well as a sweet beverage that is healthier than soda.

I think many people will like Glaceau Vitamin Water 10 and I know I appreciate the fact that I am not drinking 125 calories like I was with the original. 25 calories, I can spare, 125, not so much. I will try to drink what I have here, but I may need to cut it with seltzer water to lessen the sweetness. If you like sweet drinks, you'll love this. If you don't, this new Vitamin Water will take some getting used to. Still, it has been declared safe as far as the natural sweeteners go and it is much better for adults and kids than typical sugary beverages.

My Viewpoint

I am not Glaceau Vitamin Water 10's biggest fan. It's too sweet for me to fully enjoy. I may grow used to that as I try the other varieties and, if not, mixing the drink with seltzer water will give me some fizziness and cut down on the sweetness so my bottles won't go to waste. Do I crave Glaceau Vitamin Water 10? Oh,HAIL NO! But I do give it 3 stars* and recommend that you try it. If you like the original, you'll probably love the low calorie version.

* I never was one for overly sweet drinks. I don't even know how I managed to swallow Diet Coke and it's the only "sweet" drink I consume so I am probably in the moinority when I say this product is too sweet.

It sounds good. I don't drink but my sisters would love it, I bet. I like the Lemonade flavor the best. It's much less sweet than the others.

I just have to mention that Vitamin 10 Lemonade flavored water mixed with Watermelon Smirnoff is the best low calorie cocktail I've ever had. It's amazing.

It does have a weird taste and aftertaste. I wish they would pull back on the sweetness and be a little more like Gatorade or something that isn't as sweet (but not salty either). The Lemonade variety isn't bad though. It's not as sweet.

I have been in love with vitamin water for a couple of years. I gave up southern sweet tea and cola for it. I was happy to see the 10 calorie make its debut but I am not really happy with the taste. It is sweeter and does have an aftertaste. I have actually tried to see what the "natural sweetner" is because it really reminds me of the aftertaste with splenda. Until they can perfect the taste to accompany the calories, I will stick with the original and not drink as much.

I've never tried this the 10 yet. I don't like sicky sweet either.

Oh, ChaCha is still around and busier than ever. I haven't been doing it much because I have been so busy but I made $600 in a few months in 2008 working here and there. I have only logged on to answer queries maybe four times this year though. I'll go back and do more when things slow down. The beauty of being a guide is I can stay away for months and jump right in and work when I want. It's not much money per search but it adds up.

I am gong to do a review soon. I paid $1.00 for a 24 ounce bottle. It is flavored. I like the Peach Mango but there are several flavors although they are all clear to look at. They are about 30 calories a bottle, I think. One has 3 grams of fiber in it (tastes great) and that one is 60 calories a bottle. It has high fructose corn syrup in it which some people think is unsafe but I just can't stay away from every single thing that may possibly be not safe to lab rats. I'd eat and drink nothing. lol.

Okay, do a review or give me some info. I have been thinking about Propel now for a few yrs. Do they come in flavors b/c I hate plain water ;+( About how much are they per bottle? I don't pay more than $1 for my Vitamin Water.

I was thinking about you earlier tonight. Did you get the Dove ProAge Cream Oil Lotion? Every time I see it on my vanity I think of you and hope you like it.

Another thing. Whatever became of you doing the ChaCha thing with the cell phones? Are you still doing that? I haven't heard much about it lately so I wondered if it was a sink or swim type thing. You seem to have several irons in the fire so I didn't know if that was something you let go of. If you are still doing it please let me know how it has been.

Okay, I'm off to bed. Well, I'm off to bed so I can play one game of Phase 10 and then get some much needed sleep. Short week at the office this week--3 more days and then a long weekend!

I just bought some Propel Vitamin Water and like it a lot. It's much less sweet. I have 20 Vitamin Water 10's here that I am giving to my son. I just can't seem to get into them.

GigiandAdonai wrote on Apr 19, 2009 at 3:54PM

I'm not a water drinker but I have enjoyed a few of the Vitamin Water flavors. I haven't had any of the Vitamin Water 10s. Speaking of water, I'm thirsty--think I'll go get one out the fridge ;+) I love the orange, grape, raspberry apple and lemonade.
