I heard about this website after reading an article in our local newspaper (The Salisbury Post 6/30/08 Lifestyles section) about a mom who is donating her breast milk. I have breastfed my three daughters, and I'm glad that I have. Some mothers have milk to spare or end up throwing out milk that they have frozen. This site explains how frozen breast milk (up to 10 months old, labeled) can be donated to help babies affected by HIV/AIDS in developing countries. Part is kept in the US to help babies in intensive care as well.
The website is easy to navigate and has an online application. This organization will check to ensure possible donors are cleared medically by sending someone to your home for testing. They will even send qualified donors a free hospital-grade breast pump. Costs for shipping are covered. They even mention that they accept special donations from mothers whose babies have died.
For those who don't have breast milk to donate (and you guys thought this was just for the ladies!), they do accept monetary donations and welcome ideas for spreading the word about this cause.
