Ghost Rider Review Summary

Ghost Rider is "a convoluted mess with poor CGI." Based on a Marvel comic book and starring Nicolas Cage, this action film leaves most Viewpoints reviewers "decidedly underwhelmed" as they mostly found fault with the storyline that involves too many villains, similar to Spiderman 3. As expected, Ghost Rider, about a young stunt bike rider who sells his soul to the devil, has great special effects. Reviewers are split on Cage's performance, as some feel he's the reason to see the film, and others feel he "phones in his performance" as the Ghost Rider.

Nicholas Cage, Eva Mendez and Sam Elliot play in "Ghost Rider", an electric and riveting film that will keep you glued to your seat. — — Plot: Johnny (Cage) loses his family and all he holds dear when he is tricked into giving his soul to the devil as a young man.  Now grown, the… read full review »

This review is spoiler-free, not that there's anything to spoil! The Case — Ghost Rider is based on a comic book, and I'm a sucker for comic book movies.  I figured even if it's bad, it'll still be entertaining, right?  After all, what could be a worse comic… read full review »

Bottom-Line:  Ghost Rider is a lazy film that is regrettably uninterested in it characters, and equally as uninterested in its audiences ability to tell a turkey from a swan.  — Hasn't the Marvel Comic Books stable of hero's ran out yet?  Apparently not; queue Ghost Rider (2007), a movie that when the credits rolled left a lot to be desired, and begged the following questions: how did this hackneyed script get past the editors and what was Eva Mendes thinking?    The Story-Line — Written and directed by Mark Steven Johnson (Elektra,… read full review »

I don't know what my expectations were....I was sure that there would be awesome special effects, and there were.   But I didn't expect to identify as well with Nicholas Cage character, and I simply adored the understated elegance of casting Peter Fonda as they did.   And I wonder how many folks even remember Sam Elliot from his heydey in the 70's as a pin up boy...but it all worked together well.  I enjoyed the movie-felt good about good triumphing over evil and all that, thought the acting was decent, but on a totally different level my 7 year old loved the… read full review »

This movie starts off well, but the villains don't really "put up a good fight." Especially the main Boss. The ending is rather open, so you know there will be a sequel. Decent acting, but Nic's a bit long in the tooth to be playing Blaze. — — Very nice special effects. The motorcycle is amazingly detailed. The soundtrack fits the movie perfectly. — — I hate to sound so negative about this film, but it resembles Spiderman 3. Too many villains, so you don't get to see a great fight scene between them. An action movie should have action, and lots of… read full review »

The Ghost Rider rides to life straight from the comic books and he is GREAT!  From the young kid making a bargain with the devil for the sake of his father, to seeing his father die to seal the devil's bargain, to the man who feared nothing because he knew the devil would protect him, this movie gave a great back ground for those who weren't familiar with this Marvel comic hero of old. — Nicolas Cage, Peter Fonda, Sam Shepard, they all came through great where others may not have.  The bad boys were totally believable demons who met the Ghost Rider and met their ultimate fate.… read full review »

Wow, let's see, ghost rider is an amazing and wonderful film. The affects are crazy, and I mean that in a good way, ha ha. But seriously the director, and actors surly knew what they were doing to make such a amazing film. It took my breath away, and I was shocked at how someone could come up with such talant. The director is really blessed with a talant and I'm very proud of him, and the actors as well. I want the director to keep doing his thing, and don't stop because the sky is the limit, so he can go as far as he wants because the sky has no limit, ha… read full review »

This film is primarily for fans of the Ghost Rider comic books, comic book genre and fantasy horror genre. It basically follows some of the plot of early issues of the comic. — — It reminds me of films such as The Crow and Spawn. Here instead of coming back from the dead to exact revenge or as an agent of the devil, he has simply made a deal with the devil thus getting around the dying part. — — The best moment of the film involves the previous Ghost Rider manifesting and riding along next to this new one thus passing the torch in a fashion. Unfortunately that was… read full review »

I have always been a fan of Nicholas Cage and when I hear that he is making Ghost Rider, I was overly excited to see.  However, I must say, the story went way too fast and the character was unable to develop.  I thought if the movie was just to spend a little more "minutes" into the film, it could have been much better.  However, Cage's acting is always the best!  It's great to see him as acting the Ghost Rider and the effects are just incredible!  It's a must see movie, but a little heads up.  It goes too fast.  But still a must… read full review »

I love Nicholas Cage and I thought his acting was excellent. The special effects (such as he and the bike changing) was awesome! However, I didn't enjoy this as much as I really thought I would. And for numerous reasons. This movie could have been spectacular....it had so much potential that wasn't put to use, in my opinion! And the villians weren't all that great...kind of wimpy and too easy for him to beat. And the ending....let's not even get me started on that! Let's just say, I really disliked the end of it.… read full review »

Nicholas Cage stars as Johnny Blaze a stunt bike rider who at a young age unknowingly sells his soul to the devil. When Johnny becomes of age, the Devil comes to collect as Johnny is change into the blazing head, Ghost Rider to collect the souls of evil doers. — — I was intrigued by this movie because of its Sci-fi content and not necessarily Nicholas Cage. However, I grew to love his character and Nicholas himself in this movie. — —… read full review »
