It reminds me of films such as The Crow and Spawn. Here instead of coming back from the dead to exact revenge or as an agent of the devil, he has simply made a deal with the devil thus getting around the dying part.
The best moment of the film involves the previous Ghost Rider manifesting and riding along next to this new one thus passing the torch in a fashion. Unfortunately that was it for him as I for one hoped he would then fight along side Johnny Blaze and perhaps go out in a blaze of glory.
