Surprisingly great

I was very surprised at how well my daughter took to eating Gerber squash since it was the first vegetable I gave her when I first started giving her solids. I was also rather surprised at how sweet of an aroma it seemed to have since I don't think of sweetness when I think of squash. I think Gerber's squash really helped me with getting my daughter started on vegetables and also with transitioning her into eating other, not so sweet vegetables especially since I stupidly made the mistake of starting my daughter off on fruits first rather than vegetables like her pediatrician suggested I should do. I think feeding kids Gerber baby food is a somewhat good way to get them used to eating fruits and vegetables when you do start giving them table foods so they know how the food tastes beforehand without all of the added seasonings. This makes me most definitely want to try giving her real cooked squash when she gets a little older.

Gerber Nature Select 1st Foods Squash

First off, I love Gerber. Everything from their baby food, juice, biter biscuit, and fruit and veggie puffs. By feeding my son gerber foods it gives him the nutrition his body needs to have a healthy growth development. I tried to feed him Gerber 1st foods squash, but every time I gave him a bite he made a sour face. He pushed it back out of his mouth. He didn't want anything to do with it. I tried a few different times to feed him the squash baby food and it all ended in the same way, with him not eating it. Luckily gerber has a lot more food choices for my son to try and still get the same nutrition. I would suggest that you can buy and try the squash 1st foods by Gerber and just see if your baby will like it. Either way he still can get the nutrition he needs with eating the squash baby foods or another jar of baby food. The best thing about gerber is variety. If they don't like one, you can always try another.

My Daughter's Favorite Food

5

My daughter loves Gerber's Squash and will spend all of meal time lunging at the spoon. We love this product, because it comes in two resealable containers and because it is a safe way to introduce new foods to our little girl. The resealable containers are particularly important, because you don't always know how much babies will want to eat. The option of being able save some for later is a convenient way to save a little bit of money. Quality of Ingredients Gerber has established a very strong reputation over the years for using the highest quality ingredients. I rely on this food to not have any cross-food contaminants, so we can safely introduce new foods and pinpoint early food allergies. Safety The squash is blended with a little bit of water into a thin and smooth puree, so it is a very safe food for early eaters. I trust that the food has been processed safely and will be safe for my children

Not good if you child has acid reflux

My son loved the squash! It was his favorite flavor. The only problem was it did not agree with him. My son has acid reflux and the gerber squash seemed to bother it. He constantly spit it back up and was just miserable after eating. If you child had acid reflux in any degree I would avoid this product.

Gerber NatureSelect Squash is a good transition after green veg.

**Gerber NatureSelect 1st Foods Squash** is part of Gerber's standard line of baby food that is sold in two-pack containers, not glass jars. When I bought this, I was under the impression that the "NatureSelect" offered something different from Gerber's other products, but it doesn't; this is their basic baby food. Quality of Ingredients I like that Gerber NatureSelect 1st Foods Squash does not contain any sugar, salt artificial colors or flavors. Its only ingredients are squash and water. I began giving my son this product after the green vegetables, but before the fruits. Besides being organic or having DHA added, this product couldn't be better. Safety In true form, this has the typical "1st foods" consistency which is perfect for little babies first starting out on solid foods.

Good Product Support

Gerber NatureSelect 1st foods squash is a great first time baby food. It smells like pumpkin and I even tasted a little and it isn't too bad. It doesn't have any added sugar or spices so it is a little bland but it does have a natural squash or pumpkin flavor to it. My baby girl has eaten this food well and we are in the process of trying the other flavors of Gerber NatureSelect 1st foods. One of the reasons we chose Gerber over the other brands is they offer a lot of product support and coupons when you join their mailing list on their website. It is well worth joining the mailing list because you get coupons mailed to you every month. You also get information books that tell about your babies development each month. I enjoy reading the free information books a lot and there is tons of good information in there and the best part is they are mailed to you for free! The gerber first foods are packaged in little plastic boxes with lids that can be reused so that you can put it in the refriderator to use later which is nice too.

Gerber Nature Select 1st Food Squash...such a great food.

First of all I have to say that I really liked the Gerber Nature Select selection and quality of baby foods. I have two children and both of them both really enjoyed these introductions into real food. The squash color was nice on my eyes, unlike the peas and green beans, and my children really seemed to enjoy the flavor. I of course have to try anything before I give it to my children and I found the taste to be mild, yet enjoyable and with just enough sweet that they really seemed to like it at first. It was one of the first flavors that I tried with both of my kids and it went well without a hickup. I liked the consistency and it wasn't as runny as some of the other veggies. I also loved the convience these little plastic contains allowed me. I was able to put some in their diaper bags when I'd send them to grandparents. They were less heavy than the glass bottles and saved in the fridgerator very well for a couple days. Just watch when you open them up, when peeling back the plastic protector, they tend to spit at you a bit. But all in all, I highly recommend this flavor along with this brand of foods.

My baby LOVES this one!

My baby just started eating solids. She has tried a few different ones but she definately has a favorite and it is this one! I wonder if she eats too much though, she loves it so much she eats the whole thing every time and keeps opening her mouth for more. She gets fussy and won't take the bottle but will almost always take the Gerber Squash!

Gerber squash is baby's favorite!

5

My daughter started eating solids about a month and a half ago. We went through all the vegetables one at a time and the squash is definitely her favorite. It is the first one we tried since her doctor recommended starting with lighter colors first. If you are looking into starting your baby on solids I would recommend trying the squash first. I love being able to just open the container and have not only a food that baby loves, but also one that is good for her. She is loving all her veggies so far and we are hopefully creating healthy eating habits that she will continue as she grows up. The consistency is perfect for babies that are jusr beginning to eat solids. It would be difficult to cook your own baby food and get the same consistency that Gerber provides which makes it easier for babies to get used to eating solids. All that is in it is the squash and water, no added ingredients.

Not too bad of a taste or smell.

As a curious parent I have tried this product myself. I try everything that I give my child, so I know what she is tasting and there is never a question of, would I even eat that. Many baby foods smell like they taste.  The squash had some of a nasty smell and flavor, but for the most part, was flavorful.  More so than the green beans. My daughter loved them as well. She couldn't get enough and ate almost all the container.  She is just now starting on foods, but seemed to do very well with the squash. I used the Gerber stage 1 squash. It was resonably priced for the amount as well. I bought the package, which comes with 2 reusable containers, for .99 cents! I would recommend trying the squash with your child and I am very happy with the Gerber brand!
