Great choice for constipated babies!

5

My son suffers from frequent constipation and his pediatrician recommended that I feed him pureed prunes once or twice per week to help minimize constipation issues. Gerber NatureSelect 1st Foods Prunes really relieve my son's constipation issues. I mix the prunes with Gerber rice cereal and the results are almost immediate. My son's constipation issues are resolved and his fussiness subsides after eating Gerber NatureSelect 1st Foods Prunes. My son seems to really enjoy the prunes. I feed him these prunes a couple of times each week and they really help keep my son regular. I highly recommend this product if you are dealing with a constipated baby. These prunes are a cost effective choice for my budget as well. I can often find them on sale and Gerber frequently releases high value manufacturer coupons. Gerber products are a great choice for my baby and the Gerber NatureSelect 1st Foods Prunes are quickly becoming one of his favorite foods.

Gerber Nature Select 1st Foods Prunes were a must for my baby!

When my daughter was a baby she had a awful problem with constipation and upset stomach. I had to be so careful about what I gave her, so introducing her to new foods was always a scary process for me. But, one day my daughters doctor recommended that I give my baby some prunes. He suggested I get Gerber Nature Select 1st Foods Prunes and see how my baby did with them. After giving my baby this 1st Foods Prunes I was a little skeptical at first, I was afraid it would give my baby diarrhea. But it did not. It gave my baby regular bowl movements a few times a day and it didn't upset her stomach and she loved the taste. Quality of Ingredients This is the best prunes to buy for baby to help with regular bowl movements. My daughter loved the ingredients in the Gerber 1st Foods Prunes. She ate them with no problems and kept them down with no issues. The natural ingredients in this baby food kept my daughter regular and was a healthy source of fiber for her.

I am a fan of healthy foods, a bigger fan of homemade foods and also, a fan of Gerber products. The company, the brand and all that I believe it stands for. However, I am not a fan of prunes. Not as it relates to adult food anyway. I was however, advised- first, by a relative then, by my son's doctor to try them on the little guy. I always loathed trying new foods on him, he's a picky little guy. Always pushing the new food out by sticking his tongue out. It would be even more fustrating if it didn't look so funny! So of course, I arm myself with several extra baby wipes to catch anything the bib missed and proceeded about the mission. New food, here we go! So as I watch his little face, he of course sticks that little tongue out and pushes the first spoon out. The second - he tasted it and seemed to be thinking about it, as crazy as that sounds. He had a strange puzzled look on his face. The third spoon went well ad so on. Shortly after though, it was not so pleasant. He got the pooh's something awful. And, it stained his clothing, and it wouldn't come out of his clothing either, it became permanently discolored. after this little incident, I only used it several other times, when he had a constipation problem. This didn't work well formy son for nutritional purposes but, it did serve as a really great medication free stool softener.

My oldest daughter loved these

I have always trusted the Gerber brand because they put only quality ingredients in their products. Plus, while other brands of baby food have been taken off the shelf several times due to a recall, I have never once heard that about Gerber. With my oldest daughter, I would buy every kind of Gerber baby food to experiment with different tastes to see what she would like. I really didn't think she would like the prunes at all, but surprisingly she loved them! She ate the entire container. That was a big mistake though. It caused her to have a lot of diarrhea. I learned my lesson and starting giving her half of the container at one time. That worked a lot better and I was able to refrigerate the rest to save for another day. These prunes helped a lot when she was always constipated from her formula. I'm assuming that might be why they only have prunes in the first foods because the second foods are about twice the size.

Oh the process of getting your child to transition from breastmilk or formula to solids - I forgot in the 2 years that were inbetween my 2 daughters how much I loved the process :)  I ended up making a decent amount of baby food from scratch for my first daughter but with my second, I did not have as many free hours in my day so I ended up buying a lot more prepackaged baby food.  My daughter was really picky at first but loved these Gerber prunes.  If we ever are doing a meal on the go or I am leaving my daughter with a babysitter, I always make sure I leave prunes for her to eat because I know she will not fight eating them like other foods. My only complaint with Gerber Prunes, is that they do not make them in their 2nd foods line.  They make an apple and prune mix (which my daughter also liked) but if I want straight-up prunes, than I have to buy the smaller sized 1st foods.   Overall, I like the plastic packaging for Gerber baby food better than baby food in glass jars because I think it is harder to the last bit out of glass jars and it is harder to get the lids back on the glass jars than on the plastic ones.

messy but healthy!

I first chose to give my daughter prunes to aid her digestion.  She was prone to painful constipation as a toddler.  Gerber prunes tend to be very runny, so when she was little I would mix them in with infant cereal.  Now that she is a toddler I give them to her in her morning oatmeal.  Prunes certainly do the job to get her digestion moving!  I really don't give her prunes other than at time of constipation because of this.  Otherwise they will cause diaherria and an upset tummy.  No, it's a diaper nobody loves to change but she feels so much better and there is no medication needed.  Gerber First Food prunes are very easy to find and very affordable.  My daughter enjoys the taste.  I've never had to fight her on eating them.  They do however stain clothing, so a bib is very much a necessity for prune eating.  Other than the staining and the resulting diaper change however, I have no complaints and am glad they are there for my baby.

good product if one can digest

First of all gerber foods are good and so is this product - pureed prunes. In general also prunes are very good for stomach as it enhances digestion. I fed it to my baby and tasted it myself. They taste good.Although smell and taste little strong but are in their natural form. My baby first of all made little face but then liked it.I fed her say little less than half jar (out of 2.5 oz) at a time. I fed it to her once every day for 2 consecutive days. But then she started pooping out liquid and pruny (prunes ) in color. and had little stomach ache. The reason is that all babies might not be able to digest it.My doctor said you know what to feed her next time when she suffers from constipation. So this is a good food if your baby can digest it.But go little slow if you are trying it out for the first time. Some people eat dried up prunes every day to enhance their metabolism. Since prunes are hot in nature,in some parts of the world pregnant ladies eat them in their final moments to induce labor and normal delivery.
