My toddler used to eat anything and everything when he was a little younger.  Recently, he has gone on an eating strike, making it impossible to give him nutritious food.  All he wants to eat are crunchy carbs like: granola bars, chips and pretzels.  Luckily, he loves fruit and cheese, but I can't get him to eat meat or veggies.  While at the commissary recently, I decided to buy a couple of the Gerber Graduates for Toddlers Lil' Entrees.  They are complete meals that include a side of veggies and the whole entree is a perfect size portion.

Gerber Graduates for Toddlers Lil' Entrees Mashed Potatoes & Gravy with Roasted Chicken is a small, 5.3 ounce meal for toddlers.  One side of the tray has mashed potatoes, chunks of chicken and gravy.  The other side of the tray is diced carrots.  I took a bite out of it and thought that it was a little bland, but that's just me.

This meal didn't exactly fly into my son's mouth, but with a couple tricks, he ate it!  I tried to give him a couple bites and he wouldn't take them, so my husband added some crunchy tortilla chips in it and voila!

What I like about this entree is that it includes a full serving of veggies and that the chunks are all appropriately sized for little mouths.  I didn't like the texture of the chicken though, it looked very spongy and processed.  The box says that there are no artificial flavors added, so that's nice.  Although I wouldn't give this meal to my son everyday, it's nice to know there is something available for him on hand should I make a spicy meal or something I know he won't eat.

You and I both hope he's not a picky eater like you :) There can be no picky eaters in this foodie household :)

I actually haven't eaten one, but I have some in my house, should disaster strike :)

These are really good. Debbie's youngest daughter used them with both of her boys who are now 3 and 17 months. I hope your little man starts eating good again. You don't want a picky eater like me on your hands. It drove my parents crazy trying to figure out how to feed me.

I, too, have had the dubious pleasure of getting MREs as post-hurricane food supplements (after Hurricane Andrew in 1992). I don't remember how they tasted, but I do remember the outer bags were tough to open and that the crackers were almost as tough!

I'm married to a Marine, so I know what they are, I was wondering how she knew what they are :) My husband said they aren't very good, but a lot of them come with a mini bottle of Tabasco, so I guess that helps :)

They were giving them away (after one of the hurricanes) and my husband picked up a couple to try. The look, the smell, gross, I didn't dare take a bite. He tried a vegetarian manicotti and something else, he thought they were ok. But yeah, that's what these smell like, IMO. =)

MREs! Meals Ready to Eat, which replaced the C-rations in the 1980s, are also known as Meals Rejected by Ethiopians because supposedly they don't taste too good. Nice review!

How the heck do you know what an MRE smells like? :)

My son didn't like these at all! They sort of smelled like MREs.
