I tried a lot of sippy cups and spill proof/ durability was my biggest concern. I settled on Sip n Smile because I have never had one leak even when thrown as long as you push the valve in good. I never had any problem screwing on the lid. I always buy the ones without handles and When I put the lid on I give it a quarter turn lefty loosey to line it up then I tighten it on to the right. I was angry though with how hard they are to clean until I started trying different ways and settled on a simple and sanitary solution. (I don't have a dishwasher;( After all the other dishes are done I fill up enough hot water in the sink to submerge the cups completely disassembled, I add a little bleach and let them soak for a couple hours. Then I use one of those round brushes with the button on top that holds detergent to spin around on the inside of the lid. The brush is the perfect size and gets in all the cracks and holes. Then I simply rinse them. I have found replacement valves at the grocery store (Wal-Mart). They were about $2.50 for two. As far as the other review about the cup being dangerous, I am very sorry that happened to your little girl, that is a terrible, terrible accident but I think that is exactly what it was. She could have just have easily cut her face on the floor or on tile or a toy in her hand. Accidents happen and though I think you are right in that a softer tip would be more safe for a toddler who is not yet stable on their legs but for toddlers with more practice I think the cup is just fine. I do wish they were more affordable though. P.S. Your little girl is still and always will be a beautiful princess!
