Georgia Rule Review Summary

"Georgia has rules for a reason" is the judgement of Viewpoints reviewers after watching the Jane Fonda/Lindsay Lohan film, Georgia Rule. Portraying three generations of women with the addition of Felicity Huffman as the daughter to Fonda and mother to Lohan, they show how a history of abuse can play out between them, whether it's from alcohol, or through verbal or sexual means. Reviewers found the story of Georgia Rule emotional and enjoyed the acting of these fine talents as Huffman and Fonda work to find the answer to helping the rebellious Lohan who again plays another Mean Girl. While issuing a word of caution that language could be offensive to some, as even Fonda is heard dropping the F bomb, most enjoyed the message that "The best thing in life is to forgive."

After viewing this movie in the theatre today, I found it only fitting to write my own set of rules for watching it.

LauraBelle Rule #1 Bring your thinking cap, a box of Kleenex, and your smile.

LauraBelle Rule #2 Either see this alone or with a family member you don't mind getting real with.

LauraBelle Rule #3
Enjoy the fine acting of the female leads in this film Jane Fonda, Lindsay Lohan, and Felicity Huffman

LauraBelle Rule #4
If you're younger, enjoy hottie Garrett Hedlund, and if you're older, enjoy seasoned Dermot Mulroney. Or, be like me and enjoy both.

LauraBelle Rule #5

A Big Giant Sap

From the commercial I had seen about Georgia Rule it looked like a fun heartwarming family movie about 3 generations of women in one family.  I finally got the movie in my mail box a few days ago (Netflix).  And while this movie is certainly a heartwarming story about 3 generations of women, there is also a much sadder, and horrible element to the story.

Lily (Felicity Huffman) is desperate she is at her wits end with her rebellious daughter Rachael (played by Lindsay Lohan) and no longer knows what to do with her.  Lily had always tried to raise her daughter completely different from the way...

A story of a troubled teenage girl struggling to deal with her step father's sexual abuse, an alcolohic mother and a distant cold grandmother whom she is forced to live with due to her mom no longer being able to control her.  I think Lyndsey, Jane and Felicity all did an excellent job acting in this movie.  A movie that deals with the complexities of the relationship between a teenage daughter and her mother, the struggle of love and hate, wanting to grow up yet wanting to remain a little girl.  I thought it was great and would recommend it but it is really more of a chick flick and guys probably... review »

This movie was a good movie. The story line was very good the actors did an excellent job.I really liked it except for the language. Don't get me wrong, I'm not one to watch a movie with out cursing. You know the action pack movies or fighting movies, the ones you expect to have it.But to her hear Jane Fonda drop the F bomb in the being of the movie was a little shocking.Maybe I just need research the movies before seeing them or inviting a friend to see them with me. So I hope this helps you pick out your next movie.

i really enjoyed this movie and thought fonda did an excellent job in this film and i normally am not a fan of hers even tho i reconize her talent.  Thought the actresses were well matched and did well as a team.  I enjyed the ups and downs in this movie which also happen in real life.  Has potential for a remake.  Sappy in some places, sad in others.

Honestly, I only saw the last twenty minutes of this film on a plane. But that was enough to show me how horribly wasted these actresses were in a muddied, befuddled script! It seems to me that there may have been to many hands in this pot - no clear vision, no strong direction... too many voices striving for different ends.

This mess surprised me, because huffmn, Fonda, and even Lohan are all talented actors with a pretty strong history of good films (except for maybe Fonda's Monst-in-Law...). And Gary Marshall is an experienced filmmaker with a good eye, but... something went wrong here.
