Georgia Rule —

After viewing this movie in the theatre today, I found it only fitting to write my own set of rules for watching it.

LauraBelle Rule #1 Bring your thinking cap, a box of Kleenex, and your smile.

LauraBelle Rule #2 Either see this alone or with a family member you don't mind getting real with.

LauraBelle Rule #3
Enjoy the fine acting of the female leads in this film Jane Fonda, Lindsay Lohan, and Felicity Huffman

LauraBelle Rule #4
If you're younger, enjoy hottie Garrett Hedlund, and if you're older, enjoy seasoned Dermot Mulroney. Or, be like me and enjoy both.

LauraBelle Rule #5
Laugh your butt off at rebellious teenager Lohan trying to get a rise out of this sleepy Idaho town by doing things like announcing aloud to Mulroney, the local veterinarian, that he needs to return her panties when he's done with them.

LauraBelle Rule #6
Feel for both Huffman and Fonda as though they are mother and daughter, they aren't even comfortable enough with each other to share a hug.

LauraBelle Rule #7 Wish that after Huffman crudely cut off her own hair, she would have at least evened it out or something.

LauraBelle Rule #8
Know that Mulroney's character is a good man to deny Lohan's advances, and that for Hedlund's character to struggle with the same as a young Mormon was okay.

LauraBelle Rule #9
Wonder along with Lohan why it is that veterinarian Mulroney doesn't get in trouble for treating animals and people.

LauraBelle Rule #10 Make a mental note that when around Fonda not to use the Lord's name in vain, lest you get that bar of soap in your mouth.

LauraBelle Rule #11 Watch Fonda as she painfully scrubs out each liquor bottle she retrieves from her daughter, knowing that there is a reason somewhere for her to hate that so much.

LauraBelle Rule #12 Struggle along with Lohan as she tries to tell both truths and lies, and has a hard time discerning between the two.

LauraBelle Rule #13 Leave the theatre knowing that while Georgia Rule shows some terrible family dysfunction through three generations, there's a little bit of that in each of our families. And also know that the last line you hear is correct, "The best thing in life is to forgive."

Just watched it last night, I wish she would have done something with her hair after she cut it too. LOL

I have to ditto Patty 100% on this one. Love the format, not a fan of Lohan, but I'd still really like to see this one. Thanks for the review - I was wondering if it was any good.

Love the way you wrote this. It sounds like a great movie but I hate Lohan. Maybe I can get past that and see the movie for what it is. I know a bit about dysfunctional families!
