The Georgia Aquarium is probably the most impressive museum/zoo I've been to in all of my travels. I remember being awed by the Chattanooga Aquarium when I was younger, and I can't imagine how the Georgia one would have blown my mind at that age. I'm an Atlanta native and whenever I feel like relaxing and watching the most amazing creatures on earth, it's not too much trouble to hop on MARTA (the city transportation) and head to the Aquarium. With affordable family memberships and individual tickets, it's no burden on the wallet, and they're constantly adding new exhibits including one on the Titanic in Spring '09! The Aquarium is also an eco-friendly institution, with all of the larger animals being rescued. Sadly, the Beluga whales are down to one because the others couldn't survive their condition (they were rescued from a theme park in Mexico where they sustained severe infections), but they're looking in to getting more. Vetrinary students from the state universities help take care of the animals, so it's also an institution focused on learning. Overall, it's an excellent organization with an AMAZING product! If you come to Atlanta, definitely check it out-- you can also look at their website for specials on ticket packages with the World of Coke!
