It was a Sunday; another lazy mild Autumn Sunday in Norfolk, Virginia where I was stationed with the U.S. Navy in the mid-1980's. I lived alone in a small apartment (I had a studio), in a complex that shared a common courtyard with a very un-picturesque cement sidewalk running down the center, surrounded by dying grass. The courtyard had no trees, or flowers, just ungainly, near dead bushes no one bothered to prune. Foliage not withstanding, I liked living there because it was in the Gent section of the city. I love George WInston. . . this music never gets old or feels stale. He creates the music out of his soul every time you hear it. All of his albums are jewels, and this one shines brightly. Brillant piano player and masterful songwriter- this man touches my soul.…
