    Works Great, Excellent Value

Omeprazole is a Generic for the prescription and other brand name over the counter acid reducers.  The content of 20mg per pill is the same as the brand names, and this product works exactly the same.

This generic can now be found at all drug stores, supermarkets, and wholesale warehouses for a fraction of the cost of the brand names.

If you have a health plan, talk to your doctor about having the generic prescribed to you.  When filled at a pharmacy with a prescription paid through you health plan the savings can be even greater.  I paid $6.00 for a 90 day supply because my doctor prescribed it.  Just because it is over the counter doesn't mean your insurance company won't pay for it.

There is absoltuely no difference between this generic and the higher priced names brands.  It's a great value!

Please refer to this URL: http://www.sciencedirect.com/science?_ob=ArticleURL&_udi=B7582-4JF8HH1-7&_user=10&_rdoc=1&_fmt=&_orig=search&_sort=d&view=c&_version=1&_urlVersion=0&_userid=10&md5=1ae963516dfd327cec07d971ada8e45c It has a scientific study that proved that there are differences between generic and brand omeprazole that can possibly affect clinical outcomes. For me personally, I have been using OTC brand Prilosec for months now with zero breakthrough acid and heartburn, day or night. I decided to try the Target brand of omeprazole in June. I bought a 42-ct box for $22.98 ($4.50 less than brand-name Prilosec OTC.) The generic worked very poorly- I had repeated breakthrough heartburn that required an antacid to remedy. I also had some nighttime reflux. When I switched back to the brand, all the problems went away within a day. There IS a difference, and no, I don't work for the company that makes Prilosec! Generics usually do work as well as the prescription products but not always. Every now and then I will get one and it just doesn't work the same. Glad this one does.

Thanks for the tip about checking to see if insurance will pay toward OTC meds. I hadn't thought about that. Brands and Generics do have to have the same active ingredients, but the inactive ingredients may differ. For example, some brand named medications are gluten free but the OTC may contain gluten as a flavoring (and they don't have to list whether they are gluten free or may contain gluten on the packaging). Just a "heads up" for anyone with allergies. Saving money is a definite must for a lot of us now, and generics can help so many people to save money. Thanks for the review!
