When I first moved to Ohio in 2003 I immediately accepted a car insurance policy with Geico.  Their rates were comparable and less expensive compared to other insurance companies such as Nationwide and State Farm.  When my husband and I purchased a home in October 2006, I called to receive a quote on homeowner's insurance and their price was $2,000 a year compared to $300-$500 per year for competitor's quotes.  I would definitely suggest Geico for automobile insurance, if that is all you need, but for homeowner's insurance, I would advise you to shop around.  I did question the high quote and the Geico customer service rep stated that Geico does not have a lot of home owner insurance policies and that homeowner's insurance is not something they do a lot of business with.
