I was shopping around to be sure I had the best rate with my current insurance company.  I went online and did the Geico quote thing.  When I got the quote back I was amazed at how much I could save by switching to Geico.  Uh huh... right.

I started to take the next step and actually wanted to purchase the policies online.  They asked for all the info again (drivers, ages, etc.)  When they came back the price was DOUBLE what was actually quoted online, and they refused to insure one of my cars (a new 2007 Lexus IS!!).  I tried to call to find out why the price difference was so high and why they wouldn't insure my car.  I got the canned message as to "all associates are busy, please leave a message and we'll call you back."  I did this 3 times and NO ONE ever returned my call.

We all have good driving records, no tickets, etc. and I never got an explanation as to why the price doubled from the online quote.  Every once in a while I get emails from them wanting me to "come back and get another quote."  Like I said before... Uh huh... right.

Others may have good experiences with Geico, but I for one will stick with my local agent who actually answers the phone, calls me back, and works with me on my coverages.

Recorey you are so right, I am still with Geico but will switch soon. We have been with Geico 9 plus years, on July 3rd my wife was rear-ended and the lady that hit her lied about it. Her insurance took long to respond and we had to use our insurance company GEICO to get a rental. I have 30 days on my rental per my policy and on day 24 GEICO cut me off. We were told by GEICO that as soon as the other party's insurance admitted guilt they would switch us over to that party's insurance. Ha! Ha! The settlement for our car, 2005 Scion XB didn't even get me close to what the car is worth, so I had to make several calls and babysit my own insurance company. All I got was "Oh I am so sorry about your accident (wife is doing therapy) and your totaled vehicle, let me switch you to the adjuster's office, followed by "Sorry but we cant give you any more money because if we were in the business of buying everyone a car we would no longer be in business" actual quote. I told them well excuse me but I faithfully threw money at you on time every month for nine years and you took my money and now I am to be without a vehicle? Of course they took so long to get back to me with the settlement amount while the rental time ticked down to a few days. Oh, and GEICO told me I had take up the issue of more rental time with the other insured's company. I have full coverage, why do I have to do your work for you? Sorry we can't (won't) do more. I had to turn it over to my attorney. Sheesh! You are right on, they don't get back to you and keep you in the dark even when the issue was not your fault. The "students" they hire as agents (you get a different one every time you call ) do not even have the basic manners required to develope a simple realationship. All I have mentioned here is documented and dated. Whatever it takes to get people to get out of GEICO I am willing to do. They love you while they get your money, hate you when try to put your life back to normal when you ask for help. Thanks for your time. N.Alvy

Sorry, but the DID refuse to cover the Lexus - twice. I did give them another opportunity to quote my insurance needs and again, they didn't come close. Once again they quoted me one thing, then when I called to arrange coverage the pricing was MUCH different. Long conversations and nothing left to clarify. I'm sure they are a good company for most, but for some of us they just can't meet our needs.

I think you should call back- Geico will be there to answer all your questions, if what you saying is true then there was really some information that needed to be clarified, by the way Geioco would not refue to cover your Lexus, I know, I have been with Geico for over 20 yers, they have been rated AAA for over 10 yrs.

Cute commercials do not guarantee good service. Someone told me they're better in person. Good review.
