Before I joined a gym, the Gazelle Edge was a good "get started". I had never exercised before and have severe asthma. This got me started. I worked out on this during an hour-long TV show. Once I had lost some weight and was comfortable with joining a gym, I really haven't used the Gazelle since. Now that I've used a regular elliptical, the Gazelle Edge just doesn't getting me pumping the same.
I will admit that the digital timer/counter never worked. And I decided it wasn't worth paying to ship it to be fixed. It also squeaks (sometimes badly) when I'm working out with it. If I'm watching TV while on this, I have to turn the TV volume on nearly full-blast.
To feel like I'm getting a work-out, I have to either lean forward or lean backward while working out. This, of course, means I'm also working on my arms or my back respectively.
If you need some "help" getting started on a fitness program, the Gazelle Edge is a good match for you.
