I have had this laptop for about 5 years. It was my first. It had always worked great. Easy to use. I just used it for the basics, internet and microsoft. This laptop wasn't too pricy, and I prefer it to the more expensive macs, which don't operate at easily. The screen is big and great for watching movies. Like most laptops, typing is not as easy as it would be on a pc because the keys are not raised. I also sometimes have problems operating the volume. Unfortunately, my laptop now crashes repeatedly. I do not know if the laptop is to blame or some virus. So I would not definately say the laptop is the cause. If other people have the same problems though........ Anyway, basically this is good laptop for everday use. I would only count on it retaining its quality for a few years, after that get a newer model. Battery Life I normally just use it plugged in. The battery life varies depending on what you are doing. I find it shorter while watching movies Support & Service never used actual people. just troubleshooting Speed/Performance Great in the early years. Now, it's just okay Durability No scratches. The only damage mine has is a pealing sticker

What can i say? I know! Gateway has come out with some great ideas and strong laptops. Not only are they attractive, well at least the one i have is (: hahahah. I would recommend a gateway laptop to anyone i know. They are great to use and pretty easy to use. The windows 7 is amazing and sooo easy to use! I love my gateway computer and think that they have really become an advanced computer software business. There are many good things gateway has. Like lots of memory, video plays well, audio sounds good, graphics are nice, it is sharp, the webcam works well. There is one thing that really bugs me about the gateway computer though. My battery life is terrible! It says that it should last way longer than it actually does so i have the charger in most of the time. Although that completely sucks and gets really annoying when you have to keep putting in the charger i love my laptop and am so glad i got it. Gateway has improved greatly.

this laptop has given me nothing but headaches. i bought the Gateway NV52 almost two years ago, and it has been nothing but issues. i had it less than a month before i had to mail it to Gateway because it suddenly stopped working. no power, no nothing. when i got it back, it did the SAME THING two days later. i had to mail it back to them a second time. i was informed, by customer service, that they never corrected the initial issue. gee, thanks. the battery life is horrible. doesn't last worth a hoot. can't do anything without the power cord very close by. i have also experienced other issues with the construction of the laptop. the power button no longer works. we have to leave the computer on all the time and allow it to "sleep" when we're not using it. the power connection, where the power cord is plugged into the laptop, is loose. the whole point of a lap top is mobility, but i can't move much because i have to keep it plugged in and the power connection doesn't seem to be very trustworthy. the reason i bought this computer was because my very first computer was a gateway. that machine was like old ironside. i felt i was going to be getting a good product. seems like gateway has changed a lot since my first computer.

I bought this laptop 8 months ago and I am already having tons of problems with it. The plug to my laptop which is located on the left side of the laptop won't stay connected so it's loose. It also makes this annoying high pitched beep sound every time you unplug or plug in your laptop. So, while my laptop is on it beeps on and off constantly. The battery life of this laptop is about 1 hr - 1.5 hrs depending on my power settings, which is inconvenient whenever I use it in my 4 hour classes and everyone else has already taken up all the plug spaces in the classroom. Maybe it's just my laptop, but the sound quality on this thing is not very good. When I play my music it sounds like the speakers are blown even though I've never listened to my music on full volume. This laptop comes with tons of storage space but is surprisingly a slow computer. At night, I can't see the keyboard and I do a lot of school work at night so I always need a bright light nearby. I've also noticed a weird problem with my Itunes program and having a music website open at the same time. One or the other will sound robotic and slowed down. I would not recommend this laptop and would think twice about buying this brand again.

I purchased my NV52 a little over a year ago and am very happy with it. The 320 gigs of hard drive is a very adequate amount of space, while 4 gigs of RAM may not be the very fastest thing out there, it is definitely enough to do an excellent job. Initially, it was difficult for me to get used to the keyboard, as all of the keys are very flat. But with little practice, I can type on it just as well as any other keyboard. I really like the fact that it has a numeric keypad. After 11 months the power switch went out-- meaning I shut my computer down one evening, and when I pushed the power button the next morning, nothing happened! It was still under the original factory warranty, so it was repaired and replaced for free. The rest of my family has HP laptops, and my NV52 is definitely the best-looking of them all, but that was never the bottom-line for me. It does hold its own against the rest of the HPs, and I have been very happy with it.

I had this computer for one month and had to send it in for repair. Got the computer back a month later and it was still broken sent it out again and they repaired it. 3 weeks went by and the computer keeps crashing and will not open any applications. DO NOT BUY GATEWAY COMPUTERS THEY ARE JUNK AND THE WARRANTY COMPANY IS HORRIBLE. YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO TALK TO AN AMERICAN WARRANTY SERVICE IS OUT OF COUNTRY. COMPUTER HAS BEEN AT SERVICE FACILITY MORE THAN IN MY HANDS.

I bought this computer when it first came out and at first I thought it was one of the best investments a college student could make.  However, even with the slightest graze of the touchpad, the mouse goes haywire.  It eventually quit working on me and the warrenty on this computer is competely useless and I was not able to get it fixed.  Though it works great now that I have an external mouse.  This computer is fast and effective and stylish if I may say so myself.

I purchased the Gateway NV52 in October of 2009 after my Compaq laptop crashed.  (I think that was because of Windows Vista)  This laptop has done so much for me.  The speed of this laptop allows me to upload thing and view videos without pausing and stopping like my old laptop did. The Gateway NV52 has 4 GB of memory which is great for people who download music and upload tons of pictures like I do. The Gateway NV52 has a DVD drive and a Cd/DVD burner for burning copies of pictures or your own home movies.  It also has a built in webcam.  I use the webcam to talk to my Sister who lives in South Korea and it works great.  We have a great connection and she has a great view of us.  It has 320 GB , a 15 inch LCD screen and a Multi-in-1 card reader.  This laptop has been a lifesaver for me.  I can do so many more things now and a lot faster, so it doesn't take time away from my children.  I have never been happier with a purchase.

This is a great computer. It can do a lot of things from just everyday tasks to big projects, just like how a really expensive computer could. It has great quality graphics and the touch keys on top of the keyboard part is also very useful. The only problems I could really say I have had is that the wifi function on mine seems to interrupt with some USB devices I use, but that could just be for anything electrical, I guess. Also, the battery life is not very long if you are doing something that may use a lot of memory or something of the like. There has been a problem with my microphone, too. Sometimes it will turn on by itself if you are like, on a chat/messanger service. It sometimes is an inconvenience to have to disable it from time to time because it is annoying for the other person to have to hear my typing. Other than that, it seems to be an awesome computer to have. I would reccomend it to anyone.

**My overall opinion of the NV52 Gateway is a good one. The only 2 hang ups I have about the Gateway is that the peice that supports the headphones is plastic which many said did not make sense considering the ware and tare.( Mine is currently broken).** ** The second is: Windows 7( on this laptop) likes to not respond a little to often as far as the programs that it is suppose to balance out. It is better to turn that feature off. (Real Pain)! Othen then that. It has good funtionality.** ** Make sure you go into the MS CONFIG. Go to (boot tab) and change the setting from 1 to 2 so that both procssors are turned on. Usually: only one processor is operational on a dual processor laptop unless you do turn them both on.**
