I feel that the big screen definitely came with a trade off in terms of portability.

This laptop is very heavy and cumbersome when traveling {especially on air planes} the over all size when transported in a case that it will fit into will not fit under the seat and it is quite heavy to be lifting it in to  the over head compartment.

 Putting portability aside ,in my opinion the quality is not up to the standard that I think it should be , especially for the amount of money I paid for it.

It's a little over one year old and I have replaced the power cord three {3} times- the keys fall off...

The Gateway MX6421 laptop is an okay overall laptop, but it has some annoying tendencies. First of all it take 5-10 minutes for it to be able to be used (for instance to go on the internet). Second its disk tray pops open for no reason at all or if I slightly bump it. It can be very sluggish and often its fan revs up and is very noisy for 5-20 minutes. On the upside is that I've had it for 3 or 4 years and have never had any huge problems (excluding the viruses I've gotten, but they've all been easy to remove). This computer has a great bright widescreen. Gateway is a reliable company to buy computer products from so the choice for my laptop wasn't hard. I also like how it has many USB port, so you can plug all your products into the computer.

I do wish the laptop had more memory and speed though.
